Tired and bloated on HRT

Has anyone come off HRT because it doesn't agree with them? On 2x Ustrogen for two weeks on and off, and one pump of oestrogel every night, but feel bloated, foggy-headed and exhausted. Pre-HRT I was peri menopausal - very ragey and hormonal, with heart palpatations and insomnia. HRT helped sleep to begin with but I'm awake through the night again and really struggling with huge weight gain and total lack of oomph. Am admittedly less ragey but that's only because I'm too brain-dead to get riled. Has been three months now. Does it settle down or are some people just better to weather the menopause storm without HRT? I'm 46.

Sounds as if your dose needs tweaking or trying another brand.

Utrogestan is very sedating and can cause bloating. You can drop down to 12 days rather than 2 weeks (12 days is the dose on the patient leaflet) and do 12 days every month (so that's 12 days out of a 30 day month.)

You could also increase your gel to 2 pumps which is the starting / default dose.

Utrogestan isn't for everyone. You could think about Femoston which is almost as body-identical as what you are on now.

Or the Mirena coil and gel.

Plenty of options.

And use utrogestan vaginally is another option

Oh dear. I have just posted also about HRT and weight gain / symptoms ... isn't it so depressing ...

Meant to say I was v bloated on 75 but it eventually settled

@hatsofftoyouall when you say vaginally, do I need to go to doc for pessaries or can I just pop a capsule up my whatnot?

It's off license but the British meno association say to use the same amount and on same days, but yes, as high up there as you can.

My Gp okayed it from the get go and it's worked well for me. Possibly takes a bit longer for a bleed to start on cyclical, takes 6-7 days for me.
