Anyone know how long the referral is to the Gynae?

If you've been on the 2 week pathway and been scanned and checked and referred to the gynae ,anyone have any idea how long it's likely to take?

I've looked up waiting times and normally it's within 18 weeks at my hospital but NOT if you're on the 2 week pathway. I couldn't find any other info. I tried ringing and I emailed but no response yet.

Thanks in advance 😊

I don't know, sorry.

But is the usual process that the consultant will assess your scan asap, as it was under the 2-week pathway, then write to your GP and cc you into that letter?

Maybe contacting your GP is the next step, for them to chase it.

You may not even see the consultant if everything looks normal.

There's a big cyst which will need removing hence the referral.

I'll try the next to useless GP on Monday, that's a good idea. Thanks 👍

If you are still on the pathway you will be seen very quickly , this might have stretched a bit from 2 weeks to 3 or 4 but shouldn't be longer. You can probably clarify through appointments, a Gynae secretary at the hospital or PALS.
If you are no longer on 2WW because you are deemed to be no longer an emergency/ cancer risk you will have to wait for the same amount of time as everyone else which locally to us is nearly a year but at your hospital may be a lot less.

Ok thank you, this is what I suspected. They were twitchy about it as I'm post menopausal and it's big so needs to be ruled out as anything sinister.

Hope your ok OP and it’s all good news when you’re eventually seen.

as a PP says if you’re referred on the 2 week wait you SHOULD be seen in 2 weeks but due to covid and the increased waiting lists many Gynae cancer depts are now seeing first appointment more like 3-4. But you could call PALS and ask for clarity from the cancer tracking or the Gynae dept as to when you will likely be seen (ask to speak to the Directorate Manager of Gynae to be honest).

And as PP says you could have been trusted and “downgraded” to not urgent/not a 2WW issue which does indeed mean you’re on the normal waiting list. Several trusts in my area are at 52-78 week waits for first gynae appt which is shameful but been heading that way long before covid! They should have communicated to you if you have been downgraded though.

for your sanity, id give PALS an email or a call over your GP.

good luck, hope it’s nothing sinister and you are seen soon x

Thank you, I had forgotten about PALS. I was seen within the week once I was referred. Not quite so worried about it being cancer ,just any it out as it's so uncomfortable.

Spoke to the hospital today, they'd lost my info. I should hear back soon .

My daughter (21yrs) has a lump vagina entrance. In no pain. Referred to Gynae in Nov last year. Still no appointment. GP has 'guessed' its a cyst.

I have an appt this week, I got an email the evening of phoning the hospital.
