Has anyone had theirs treated and if so what procedures please? Mine are on one leg only but they ache. GP says cannot be done on NHS which I understand. I know HRT can make them worse, I think it’s the oestrogen. Just looking for least invasive treatment options really. I think you can have them microwaved nowadays?

Thanks.

They can be done on the nhs you just need to meet the ccg criteria, so say you wear compression stockings 24/7, if you have any localised bleeding exaggerate then tell your gp, say you take regular painkillers. It is the GPs job to refer you if you fulfill local criteria. Then ask the vascular Dr for either foam sclerotherapy or laser ablation both 15mins painless procedures done as a day patient without any downtime.

Or, pay about 2/3k to get done privately but it can be done on the nhs. Tell your gp you'll be saving the nhs thousands in potential varicose ulcer treatment in years to come!

Other people (older than me) have had theirs treated previously by NHS so it used to be possible and I did wonder….. Thank you!

Just do not mention you don't like the look of them, it can't be for cosmetic reasons obviously. Sadly you need to overegg the pain and discomfort and definitely say you wear comprssion stockings it is that bad. I'd recommend laser ablation, no sedation needed they hold a gadget to the veins to zap them and 2 weeks later smooth legs! Good luck.

Thanks, it is the discomfort that’s getting to me. Boy do they ache. Elevation doesn’t help either. I shall visit GP. I tried compression socks but daren’t wear them now aa the tops of the socks hit half way through the problem area and restrict it so that’s another difficulty. 🙈
