Rosacea

I’ve always had the redness prone rosacea issue but now have graduated to red, angry, bumps. I’m sure it’s hormonal and stress triggered for me. I was given a course of doxycycline antibiotics by a private dermatologist but I’m not sure the appointment or treatment was worth the cost for me. I’m still erupting occasionally. Has anyone tried Soolantra with any success? Thinking of seeing if the GP will prescribe it for me to try. Thanks

Ooh, that gives me hope. Did you find it made it worse before it improved things and did you just use it on a small area (my right cheek is the spot prone area) or all over? Do you use it daily now or just occasionally to keep things under control and did your GP object to prescribing it? I’m kinda regretting going to see the private dermatologist now. Maybe I should have done more homework and asked for Soolantra first. I’m sure it’s menopause related too. Thanks

I had the 3rd stage angry lumpy roseacea too it is awful. Doxy worked for me for a while, soola kept on working.

But, I ended up with bad stomach problems, presumably killing all my bacteria. I researched and tried an anti inflammatory diet which worked so quickly, then added foods back in and found that as long as I avoided wheat and a lot of sugar plus got reasonable sleep and not too much stress it was OK.

But of a faff but better than the cramps and bloating!

Good luck with it.

I didn’t go to my GP actually, I got via the Superdrug online Dr. Had to send them a photo of my face and a photo of (normal) skin elsewhere. I ordered somewhat on the spur of the moment one evening when my skin was looking awful, blotchy and covered in red bumps.

I put it on my cheeks mostly and occasionally my chin and forehead. It really smoothed the skin, it has never felt so soft.

It’s never really returned, I still have the original tube and just use it very occasionally, maybe once a fortnight or so.

It really worked for me as you can tell!

Oh and no, it didn’t get worse before getting better. Just gradually improved.

Thanks, yes I’ve cut processed junk, sugar, wheat and dairy almost down to zero. No alcohol, little caffeine I have lots of water, fruit, veg n oily fish. I try eat probiotics too but unfortunately antibiotics wipe these out, hence my reluctance to do more. It’s stress and menopause hormones I think that triggers mine. Just had a stressy spell and bingo a big red angry bump. I think I’m going to try Soolantra via GP or online GP next alongside all the lifestyle adjustments.

What anti-inflammatory diet did you follow?

Thanks for all that info. I’ve done an online consultation with GP and asked if I can try it. If no joy I’ll try and get some online.

I have had rosacea for at least 15 years but it really intensified over the last year with peri menopause. I was prescribed metronidazole gel, which has worked wonders. Zero flare ups and no side effects. I also wear factor 50 sun block every day.

Try the kalme range for roseacre too
