For no reason whatsoever I couldn't stop crying yesterday . DH just snapped at me and said "what is the matter with you?" - I am feeling ultra sensitive today, had a little cry when I was on my own walking the dog. Feeling inadequate and invisible.

How old are you, what stage are you at are you still having regular periods?

I would make an appointment with a nurse at your practice, have an MOT get bloods and blood pressure checked to make sure it isn't anything easily fixed like low ferritin or low vit D, thyroid levels etc.

If you are peri or post and you feel this isn't a one off but more a persistent issue then try wellbeing apps, exercise (not always gym based just walking 10k steps a day will give you a boost) limit coffee and alcohol etc. All the basics really.

Then if you think you've addressed all of the lifestyle issues but still feel low discuss anti depressants or HRT with your Dr. Good luck.

I'm 51, started HRT yesterday so hopefully things will improve once it gets into my system

My cat bought in a live mouse. I tried to catch it but couldn’t. Decided to leave it for 5 minutes and have another go. In that time my cat sneaked in and killed it.

I couldn’t stop crying all day. That’s what the menopause did to me. It’s a bitch and I send you all my sympathy. Give everything a try until you find something that works.

I’m over the worst of it but still have hot flushes. I can’t take HRT because of migraines. I take escitalopram 10mg (antidepressant) which reduces them a bit.

Best of luck.

@sleepymum50 Just for information, HRT is allowed for women with migraine.

I'm wondering who advised you otherwise?

The charity The Migraine Trust confirms this.

Often, drs with no menopause training assume that HRT is the same as the combined birth control Pill. They are completely different.

@JinglingHellsBells Thank you for your concern. I did take HRT, but had awful problems with migraines. (4 in 6 days once). Tried a few. Eventually I went on a low dose continuous patch, which wasn’t too bad, but still had the migraines here and there.
