Menopause self test - experiences?

I've had some peri menopause symptoms so have done a self test which has shown a positive result. It says to do the 2nd test next week, so I will do that as well. In the meantime, has anyone else done these tests and, if so, how reliable did you find them? I'm wondering if I should try to book in to see my GP. Should I be asking them for blood tests?

Sorry if all this should be obvious, I'm just a bit all over the place with it.

I'd be interested to see if anyone else has had luck with these too. I've no idea really how to go about this whole menopause thing!

I did one years ago and it was correct in as much as it confirmed all the symptoms I'd been having . It was a Wilkos one and just like a pregnancy test,it wasn't a two part one.

I thought as bloods tests weren't reliable as hormones fluctuate so much they weren't recommended now.

You'd only have to see the GP if you wanted HRT.

@ElizabethG81 NICE menopause guidance is that GPs do not offer blood tests for menopause in women over 45. This is because in all likelihood the symptoms are menopause. (You can read the NICE guidance - google it- and look under the bullet point 'Diagnosing'.)

AND blood tests are inaccurate! The test only shows what's going on during that day- in peri, hormones change by the hour and the day.

There is no way that an OTC test is accurate.

And your GP won't test either unless you are under 45.

Obviously if you want medication like HRT or other treatment (if you can't have HRT or don't want it) see your dr anyway.

Thank you. I'm 41, probably should have said that in my OP as from what I've read it might be treated differently?

I rang my GP yesterday and have an appointment with a menopause specialist nurse in a couple of weeks, so we'll see how that goes.
