Facial changes and hair receding in menopause

Iam going through really bad hormone issues since starting menopause in past 2 years, I get days when my facial structure looks different and more masculine with too much sebum and oil on my skin and start having the receding hair line loss then other days I can look more feminine and hair more fuller etc.I’ve tried Elleste duet but green tablets made the conditions worse in terms of facial and skin. I’ve started estrogel with utrogestan about 10 days ago but not seeing any improvement at all and feel I need an anti androgen blocker as I did suffer in teen yrs with something very similar . Wounder if if a gp would also prescribe me anti androgen meds aswell if I explain my state and request it? Anyone else have a similar issue or know about this problem? It’s effecting my quality of life aswell along with my self esteem and I just feel so hopeless 😞

I am in a similar boat where I have excess sebum and androgens causing a huge flare up in acne. I feel totally attacked by my skin. Started HRT 4 days ago. Fingers crossed.

@sam7778 - I have started Oestrogel 2 pumps and not yet started (prescribed) Utrogestan. My GP said it would help me with the skin challenges. Fingers crossed.
I can already see the oil levels reducing. On day4 so far.
Whatever I've read seemed to suggest that the androgen blockers are great but temporary and seem to have side effects (so not sure how long they can be taken due to side effects). If HRT doesn't work for you by itself then exploring the androgen blocker is definitely something to consider (after all that's why they are prescribed to menopausal women). Don't lose heart, keep looking for options. I read on some threads that it takes up to 6 weeks for the full benefits of HRT to kick in.

Thank you for your reassuring message , your on same as me , iam on day 11 of the oestrogen 2 pumps and I also have not started the utrogestan. I e been applying the gel between my inner thighs as I think she suggested that. But iam worried it’s not absorbing right and I use 2 pumps together all at once on same area. Well that’s hopeful then if your oil is already reducing maybe I need to give it time then. Didn’t know androgen blockers had side effects but thanks for that info .I’ll update as I go on with this x

I apply one pump on each thigh to help spread it out a bit. Not sure what's optimal, but worth trying different options.

The anti androgen j researched was Spironolactone. This one is for menopausal acne which I suffer from. However there are other options too, some may have fewer side effects. Do your research - it will give you some hope while you wait.

I'll let you know how it goes..
Good luck.

Hey thank you for your message , sorry I’ve only just seen it as I’ve not been on here, yes iam using estradol but been applying to my upper arm’s as I thought it wasn’t effective on thighs and haven’t seen much changes while using it so was gona apply it 4 times 2 in morning 2 at night to see if it makes a difference. Thanks for the info too x
