Hi, i am 47 and have just been perscribed Elleste duet 1mg for perimenopausal symptoms. I began taking them when my period started as the doctor said this would be best. I always get really heavy periods and stomach pains. I found some amazing tablets for this called flarin (they are ibuprofen). Am i ok to take ibuprofen with elleste duet ??? Also do i take a break at the end of each pack of elleste or are they contiuous ??? I have read lots of people really struggle on these it has made me slightly anxious as there seems to be loads of side effects. Any reviews or advice anyone could give me would be amazing and much appreciated.

Thanks 💖💖

I am not on this exact brand, but also on a sequential tablet, estradiol only and after 11 days progesterone is added in.

I am no expert but I don't see any contraindications that you shouldn't take ibuprofen with them. I also take a medication for my ibs which my gynae was fine about me taking them together.

Mine have 7 tablets that are non-hormonal, do you have the 28 day pack? I see the one I take also has a 21 day version, but I will take mine continuously as I have the 28 day one, and the break will be on those 7 placebo tablets.

I am only on week two though, and I am only starting to feel a bit better now mood wise. So don't expect too much too soon.

The first few days I was really tired, like strangely exhausted tired, and I have had a bit of constipation. I did feel extra anxious at first as well, but that does seem to have passed.

Over It Ugh GIF

Just started the Elleste Duet yesterday and as soon as I had the tablet I felt so wired after 1 hour . sickness stomach cramp just not feeling myself . Got this medication as my periods were getting very heavy. brain fog, insomnia aching joints ,exhausted all the time . anxiety, loss of libido, depression. Just feeling terrible. I want to not have any more already as I feel shocking glad I'm off work today not sure how I will be tomorrow in work . I feel so fed up I'm going to feel worse

I'm on Elleste Duet 1mg (48, peri menopausal). I requested HRT mainly for bone and cardio protection and hopeful it would reduce my peri rage.
GP recommended I take for 3 months before making any judgement on efficacy as it takes a while for the body to reach equilibrium with the adjusted hormone levels.
Have been on it for nearly 9 months now and think after the 1st few months I did feel a bit calmer and had more energy.

You take the packs continuously (no breaks) and can take ibuprofen.

As an aside, one thing that really annoyed me is the double prescription charge "because there are 2 medications in the pack" when it's a complete packaged product.
If you're going to continue, do take advantage of the HRT prepayment certificate which should be available next month. You will get a year supply of any HRT meds (tablets, patches, creams etc) for the price of one prescription

I felt queasy on and off during the first few weeks but it settled and I haven't had any issues since. If you can persevere I would recommend it and give you body a chance to get used to the altered hormone levels

Yes I heard about that I did the prepayment my husband told me about it . Yes I was annoyed it was one box at over £18 two prescriptions. I would pay £50 to feel more myself though 😘
