Tingly fingers & feet

Not sure where to post but 'think' this is peri-meno related... I was prescribed propopanol for heart palpitations, but last few days I've noticed I'm getting a tingly sensation in fingers & feet.. has anyone else noticed this either as a side effect of this medication or just generally during pm? Also on lanprozole which another friend says can cause this after long term use? I shall call docs tomorrow but wondered if anybody had similar experience in the meantime? Thanks

I'm not on medication but am noticing tingly / aching fingers and horrendous elephant feet and ankles.

deedledeedledum · 17/07/2022 13:21

I didn't get it but yes. It's a peri/meno thing

Thissucksmonkeynuts · 17/07/2022 13:23

Are you taking the oestrogen part of hrt amd It has continued? It could be other things, and worth checking out.

cushioncovers · 17/07/2022 13:25

Yes I get it. It's a menopause thing.

Meant to say if you're worried give your Gp a call

Because this can cause B12 deficiency which can cause those symptoms. Ask the GP for a blood test.

Angrymum22 · 17/07/2022 13:27

I have been on lansoprazole for years and only recently found out that it interferes with absorption of water solvent vitamins particularly B12. B12 deficiency causes peripheral neuropathy which maybe the cause of your tingling.
I have had peripheral neuropathy for years so have now started B12, hopefully it solves the problem.
There are lots of other causes but mention it to GP who can check your B12 and prescribe a supplement if necessary.

Yes I’ve got tingly fingers and started with Rayunards (?) but I have a feeling it’s down to my thyroid although blood tests suggest it’s normal but that’s just the standard test which I’ve read is pretty useless and not the more in depth ones.

Tel apt with doc - she completely ruled out medication causing it & says likely to be menopause! Got bloods booked in to test for other things too but suggested I sack up the oestrogen!

I've got hypothyroidism and the tingling of hypo was slightly different to peri menopause... can't explain!

Peri menopause tingling has been nearly burning at times. B12 was fine, I even took more to see if it helped (as it wasn't at the top end of range.)

Hrt was what's helped the most. Most recent Gp said its linked to Raynauds but I am not getting the cold bit, just the after tingle/burn.

I don't think I'm on enough hrt yet based on increased tingle recently. When I first started it went completely.

I believe higher level of oestrogen can actually make our extremities very cold. (There was a big bit on woman's hour last year.) I feel like my old cold hands and feet have gone but they really don't cope with being hot now. I used to suffer terribly with chilblains as a child/ teen.

That's really good as I went back and forth with my burning hands and feet for two years!

Im on monthly B12 injections and still suffer badly with pins and needles. My fingers are numb most mornings. Been on them for 18 months and now peri menopausal its getting worse.

KangarooKenny · 19/07/2022 16:54

I did, it was low ferritin.

Oh wow I've been experiencing this for a while too. 51 but with regular periods and ovulating but other issues have made me wonder about peri... including total heat intolerance...
