I'm not sure where I am with menopause as I've been on the pill for years, but just stopped. My LSH is 28.9 I'm 52 and don't have many symptoms night sweats now and then but my arms and legs are so very painful. I've had tests and nothing has come up so it's likely to be menopause related.
Is my only option HRT?
Has anyone found anything to take that helps?
Thanks

Do you know your vitamin D levels, as low Vit D can cause bone aches and joint pains?
It is not often checked as routine, so you need to ask for the actual number and get it checked if not known.

SwankyPants · 16/07/2022 16:25

Hi yes it was checked and its within normal range

Have you tried taking cod liver oil ?
When you say painful, in what way ? Is it the bones, the joints, the tendons/ligaments, or the skin ?

SwankyPants · 16/07/2022 18:24

No i haven't tried that.
Its inside, not sure if its bones or muscles. It's painful when I stand up and get moving. It does ease a bit the longer I move around

Read up on polymyalgia rheumatica, it's an autoimmune condition characterised by aching in hips, knees and shoulders. Worse after sitting. Can be successfully treated with steroids. I was diagnosed with this in 2018 and menopause at the same time.

Sore when you start moving, but gets better, sounds like a combination of ageing and peri.

I will do. The dr I spoke to first of all mentioned something like that. Its not my joints though, it's like I've overdone the exercise

Thats what I was thinking.
Is it only hrt that can help with the aches?

If it’s in the joints and especially if it’s cyclical not continual, it could well be menopause. My horrendous joint pains disappeared within a month of starting hrt

Cod liver oil helped me.

SwankyPants · 17/07/2022 12:32

Thank you I'll give that a go :)
