Itching down below

I’ve started to feel the odd itch down below. What cream should I get to start with ? Want to avoid oestrogen if I can.

Vagisan. Anything for vaginal dryness (it feels like itching).

NottheLot · 10/07/2022 14:51

Sorry, I can't help. I had this, and vaginal dryness, for over a year. In the end HRT (oestrogen patches and progesterone coil) sorted it out. I had the oestrogen cream but that didn't help.

I find aqueous cream helpful - both to wash with and use as a moisturiser and after a wee if I can. Works well for me

Vagisil is temporary relief and I have Vagifem

SkeletonFight · 12/07/2022 09:25

twice weekly for support of the whole urogenital system.

KangarooKenny · 13/07/2022 07:18

Got Vagisil as it’s what they had in the shop. Thanks .

I have had vaginal atrophy for 10 years plus, and use Vagifem which is an internal tablet, easy to insert, it transformed my life. There are no side effects, and taken twice a week means there is no dryness, soreness and sex is painless.

FlorianImogen · 13/07/2022 07:27

I should add, my vaginal atrophy started with being itchy down there.

Loveisnotloving · 13/07/2022 07:27

I agree Vagifem is excellent

MrsMigginsCat · 13/07/2022 07:47

Vagifem. The oestrogen in it is a tiny, tiny amount. I'm advised not to take traditional HRT due to previous endometrial cancer but it's fine to have this. Makes all the difference. No itching, sex has stopped being sore and no dryness.

Knittingnanny2 · 13/07/2022 07:53

Another fan here of twice weekly vagifem

KangarooKenny · 13/07/2022 08:08

As I said earlier, trying to avoid hormones.

I’m not sure the vagifem gets much further than the lining of the vagina so I’m not really concerned about the hormone thing personally . I’m late 60’s and didn’t need hrt through menopause just vagifem for vaginal atrophy post 60

JellyBellyNelly · 13/07/2022 09:20

You could be itching for quite a few reasons. Could you maybe see your Dr to rule out anything like Lichens before you buy any cream over the counter.

The info leaflet talks about breast and endometrial cancer, so it must be able to.
If I was struggling I’d use it, but I don’t need it at the moment.
