what is the point of HRT? (Evorel patches)

After a 5 minute telephone consultation with a GP I've never met because our surgery seems to have abandoned face to face since Covid, I've been prescribed Evorel patches. Chatted to friends who were horrified. Said I should have had blood tests, heart scan, bone density etc etc first. Don't even know whether what;s prescribed is what I need.

Then I read up about the patches and it seems they can cause irritability, mood swings, headaches, bleeding, acne, weight gain and more. I thought HRT was supposed to help with symptoms, not create them. I'm feeling very baffled and suspicious of stickiong on a patch that might make me even more anxious and ratty and under the weather than I already am.

Can anyone tell me their experience of Evorel patches

I started evorel conti 5 months ago after being on evorel sequi for 18 months. I am feeling much better since I started using it. I have dreadful headaches and these have almost stopped. I am also sleeping better. I have had issues with bleeding though, pretty well constant, finll y stopped now, for now at least, but apparently this can occur whilst your body is getting used to it - healthexpress.co.uk/evorel-conti

I’ve been given a different one estradot I hate it. Put so much weight on. The only thing that is better is the hot flushes. I’m persevering as have another appointment at the end of may. It can’t come soon enough Anyone else had these. Xxx

I started the gel 12 days ago and I can honestly say I feel 10 years younger. More positive, much less aches and pains, sleeping better. I’d put it off for 3-4 years and if I’d known it would be this great, I would’ve gone on it much sooner!

I've been on Everol Conti patches for 3 years and get on great with them.

I had no blood tests or anything. I had a dexa bone scan last month - purely because I went into menopause fairly early due to cancer treatment.

Every medication can have side effects and the manufacturer has to list every single possible side effect. It doesn't mean you will experience them. Evorel has been brilliant for me.

Absolutely. They have to list every side effect that’s been recorded, even rare ones. The vast, vast majority of women will have none of them.

I use Evorel as well and they have been great for me.

I'm on everol.conti..im post menopause. I have found that my hot flushes and aches have gone..my bladder also seems to be under control. (I also take vagifem for this). I did have some bleeding to start with. I have also had some cramping on and off. But mostly I'm ok. My biggest problem is my mood. I feel low and joyless. And irritable. I am contemplating going back to the Drs
