I haven’t a clue what I’m doing 🤦🏻‍♀️

do I wear the patch constantly but just take the tablets the second half of the cycle, from day 14 effectively even though I have a 25 day cycle?

im going to have a good read now.

That sounds about right @RudsyFarmer

you might find you have a bleed at your normal time, I know I sometimes get signs I’m still ovulating, and start my progesterone then.
Give your GP a call to see if you can slowly lengthen your cycle, when your own hormones fade into the background with time.

take a photo of yourself today, and watch yourself get years younger!

i love my HRT.

I think the doctor said I should medicate assuming I have a 28 day cycle and it will basically morph into one. I am still regular so im
going to wait until my period comes to put on the patch.

I am just SO excited. I’m exhausted nd have aches and pains. I’m praying those things improve.

I started patch and utrogestan recently. I’m still having periods so applied patch on first day of period. On day 14, which is this week, I’ll take utrogestan for 12 days.
Patch stays on continuously, changed twice a week. I change Sunday/Thursday.

Interesting to see how I feel once progesterone added in. Early days.

Picking up my first prescription tomorrow! Would be great if it helps with my brain fog...

Magnolia08 · 29/06/2022 21:51

I've just started it too, same regime. Fingers crossed we're all feeling positive effects soon!

WarriorN · 30/06/2022 02:44

Some things I've learnt since starting in Nov!

Some can feel worse before they feel better. (I felt great initially but going from 50 to 75 has been hard.)

You can be a bit jittery and too energised at first it; was helpful for me when I first started on 25. I was on the floor.

Some symptoms can go immediately, some can really take the full 3 months.

Keep tracking symptoms in case you need to go up. If it's too much, cut a patch down to half for a month.

My previously regular period (give 3-4 days) went awol when I first started but keep the regime going and it should sync. The booster jab caused unexpected bleed and rather messed things up again.

A covid infection can sometimes interfere with the hrt in some people sometimes.

Menopause matters forum is extremely useful.

WarriorN · 30/06/2022 02:47

Some find the utrogestan too groggy, others find it the miracle for sleep.

If you don't get on with it - some seem to find it settles if they persevere, others find switching to vaginally works better. (Same dose and regime)

Do consider vaginal creams / pessaries too as it's best to tackle from all angles!

RudsyFarmer · 30/06/2022 18:24

Thank you guys. Hugely helpful 💐

Do I use the patch across the whole month?

OP posts:
WarriorN · 30/06/2022 19:54

You change twice a week and use it all month.

Use the utrogestan as directed by Gp (some it's daily, for some it's 12 days per 28.)

Hello all

I've just picked up my prescription for the same regime. Need to read all of the info, but interested to read your comments!

I was still having regular periods when I started on a year ago. Patches all the time, progesterone tablets day 1 to 25 of my cycle. Usually bleed from about day 28-30 for three or four days. Currently on about day 38 and haven't bled. No idea what's going on anymore.

TooHot2022 · 18/07/2022 16:22

Be careful with the utrogestan - it gave me migraines from hell and knocked me out so completely overnight that I didn’t move and permanently damaged my shoulder 😔
Had to come off it in the end.

Is that not too much progesterone? My prescription is for patches + progesterone 12 days a month. I'm still having periods (25/6 days) and was finding it hard to remember 'when' to take the progesterone, so have started taking it in the first of the month for 12 days and my period has resettled around that.

It can be taken vaginally, exactly the same dose and timing as you're prescribed orally.

Did you try this by any chance? It's technically off label but most gps agree and there is info on the BMS website
