Burning skin/rosacea??

I've been blessed with really good skin all my life. Then I hit peri-menopause and my face feels like it's permanently on fire. Skin is red and stinging constantly. Is this permanent? Temporary? How do I treat it? Have no idea what to do?
Have spent years being able to slap any old product on my skin and suddenly the goalposts have totally shifted.

Have been on HRT for a year and it was a game-changer for most of that time, but it doesn't feel like it's working as well at the moment. Other symptoms creeping back - (night sweats, exhaustion, headaches, odd dizzy spell.) Feel like I'm properly unravelling tbh.

Any suggestions from the wise women of MN? Have tried putting everything from Aloe Vera to colloidal oatmeal on face so far and nothing's helped. Is there anything that will take the sting away?

It does sound like it could be rosacea. I have it but unlike you always had more sensitive skin. Until you are sure what it is I’d suggest stripping back to the basics of gentle cleanser and moisturiser and sunscreen. I found ceravie good when mine flared up but I don’t use it long term. I’m slowly trying to switch to more natural products. Unfortunately it’s difficult to recommend one single, miracle, product as what works for some doesn’t seem to work for others. I’m also feeling like you in that my HRT was working well for 3 days years helping with symptoms but now it isn’t. Obviously I’m deeper into menopause now and hormones are deserting.

Tits, it maybe that your own body’s hormones are going south too!

id get a GP appointment, and try a higher dose of HRT . I’d ask for a dermatologist appointment too. Rosacea is caused by little mites, so treatment includes special insecticide cream / gel.

I find cerave cream makes my face burn, (though their cream to foam face wash is nice) so I use royal jelly DrOrganic moisturising face cream from Holland and Barrett.
Your dermatologist might suggest la Roche posay as well. I like their 50 liquid sunblock. keeping off red wine and very hot drinks, steam, and spicy foods also calms down the skin.

try not to use alcohol based toners or retinol as they can irritate as well.

my first point of call would be my GP for a HRT review, and the rosacea cream/gel.
