I'm on Evorel Sequi patches, have been for 6 months and should have a week left of the Conti ones (oestrogen and progesterone) but my period arrived today? It might be because I didn't apply my last patch on properly I guess (it wrinkled and got two big folds in it so wasn't all touching my skin IYSWIM). Hormones have felt a bit weird this month anyway though with the return of night waking and random moodiness But now I'm not sure what to do. Do I switch to the oestrogen ones or finish the pack?

My period arrives at anytime during the 4 combined patches. I just complete the pack regardless.
I'm having problems with the patches doing that thing where they crease the skin underneath, it gets sore and I wonder if it hinders absorption. I'm sure they have changed recently as I never used to have this problem.

Thanks - yes, it was sore when I took it off! I thought I'd just put it on badly, but maybe not.

I'll carry on regardless but would like to get them to work with my cycle if at all possible. But my cycle was never 28 days (usually 32 plus) so it's perhaps a bit of a tall order.

I was advised that if my period started during the mixed patches to go back to the start and begin a new box of the Sequi. Apparently your natural cycle can try to compete with what the HRT is trying to do and ideally you want it to sync. You can also use extra gel instead of a patch, if you started a bleed when you were maybe 2 or 3 patches into the oestrogen only part of the cycle and didn't want to waste the remaining patches in your open box . Iirc 2 pumps of oestrogel per day for 4 days is equivalent to one patch, but double check that.
Only do it for a month or two though because you do need the bleed. If that doesn't work you might need a different kind of HRT. I found the pharmacist at my doctors surgery really informative, so worth asking them.

It depends on the dose of the patch.

2 pumps of gel is 1.5mgs estrogen.
That is roughly the same as a 50mcg patch.

Normally if a 'real' period comes early, you'd carry on with the HRT regime and not stop. This is because in time it will override your own cycles.

If you keep stopping and then starting back on the estrogen-only patches, it just gets too complicated, especially as some total cycles in peri can be really short, like fewer than 3 weeks.

Thanks both. I have no gel to use unfortunately oops. But as you say, Jingling I might just end up confusing things further. Perhaps this was just a short cycle, I certainly didn't get my usual 'high' mid cycle nor the sore boobs sketch before AF arrived. Hopefully it'll settle down.
