How many days after stopping Utrogestan does your period usually come? I take it for 14 days a month. I’m thinking about whether I will have a period when I’m on holiday.

Between 2-4.
Spotting sometimes by 2 days and full flow by day 4-5.
But everyone is different.

Thanks

4-5 then I just get a period. A slightly shorter & lighter one.

Summerhillsquare · 19/06/2022 21:25

Mines random.

Starting to wonder if I shouldn't just take 100mg every day and see if that stops it altogether.

Mines random too. Cannot predict it. Some months no bleed. Other months a bleed on day 3 or 7 or 10!

HairyKitty · 21/06/2022 17:45

on the 3rd or 4th day after for me

Queenie24 · 21/06/2022 18:30

Mine is normally on the 3rd or 4th day of not taking it.

I’ve been taking continuously, even though not quite post meno (only 2 normal periods in last year before HRT) for about 6 months. This is due to medical advice as it was felt stable progesterone would help migraine with aura. Not sure if it, but anyway, I’m on continuous.

What I’m doing, is taking it continuously for 25 days (as leaflet actually says) and then having 3 days off. What I find is that some months I then get a short bleed - normally about 48 hours after stopping. This suggests I’m still getting small build up of womb, despite progesterone and giving it the short break from progesterone allows it to clear. This seems good to me.

I did try cyclical for a couple of months before this. The trouble was migraines, but also when I stopped taking Utrogestan, I got terrible period pains, far worse than I ever had with usual periods. This seemed ‘wrong’ at the point where my periods had reduced to 2 in last 12 months. So the continuous with short break seems better for me. not sure if anyone else does this.

I've switched from Elleste Duet to gel and Utrogestan and am just in the break after day 28, no bleeding yet (3 days in) but I am getting horrendous headaches ... anyone else found this settled after a while?
We have a big family holiday starting on my next day 28 and I'm not looking forward to the headaches then.

Most of the advice on continuous is to ignore the leaflet and take everyday. Louise Newson has advice on this on YouTube

Thanks everyone. My GP originally told me to take it everyday, but I feel better now I’ve switched to intermittently.
