Me- sailed through my periods for 40 years. Now really struggling with peri aged 53.
Friend- 40 years of hell with periods. Virtually no peri issues aged 56.

Anyone else similar?

No issues with periods other than them being pretty heavy. Sailed through menopause. The only symptom I had was a single night sweat that i had one night.

No issues with periods, fertility, pregnancy or giving birth.

Never needed to see a doctor regarding periods etc.
Never seen a doctor with my last 4 pregnancies.

Perimenopause was hell.

Postmenopausal now and a different level of hell. I would probably have committed suicide without HRT.
Sad

I've never had period or hormone problems in the past, regular & moderate period every month on the dot. I suffered terribly from peri in december but started eating hormone balancing foods and am back to normal again. I could really recommend doing that as it helps immensely and symptoms can be alleviated greatly with food.

Horrible periods from 14, no problems conceiving. Dreadful perimenopause, heavy periods, weeping, grew giant breasts. Now have hot flushes and very little sex drive but so much happier than I was before. Breasts have gone back to size they were in my 20s/30s and I weigh the same as I did then.

That sounds promising, what foods are hormone balancing?

Could I please ask how old you were when you had your peri menopause and how long it lasted for you? I'm trying to understand where I am at and how many more years of horrendously heavy periods I have to endure Sad.
I'm planning on getting the Mirena soon as my iron levels are ridiculously low but am slightly worried about weight gain, acne and low mood.

This is interesting!! I've always had really really heavy and irregular periods - they would arrive anytime between 5 and 8 weeks apart but generally 5.5-6 weeks. No problems with fertility used the Pill until trying for baby #1, H got the snip after #3 so no need for contraception after that. Got a coil fitted 5 years ago post divorce (aged 48) and was told it would cover me through menopause. Periods suddenly a dream - light and regular 28-30 days apart. But now I'm 53 and still having the wretched things!!! Compared to my peers who have had much easier periods all their lives I haven't had the dramatic physical peri symptoms they have of sweats and thinning hair although I'm starting to get the aching joints, brain fog and utter exhaustion particularly just before my period starts.
@ValenTeeeeee I haven't had weight gain or acne or low moods since I had my Mirena fitted. Hopefully you will be as lucky!

My periods were horrendous, and when I hit the menopause... strewth, that was even worse. The gynaecologist told me that if you suffer one badly you're likely to suffer from the other as well.
