Does anyone else have random bleeding without periods ?

Yes but mine has a known cause and even then I was sent for a check up scan last week.

You absolutely must get it checked out

lackofvision · 23/05/2022 20:02

Yes I have done recently and had a cramping pain and ache

I will be going for a scan

Caramac555 · 23/05/2022 20:04

Think this is one of those things you absolutely must run past a doctor, to exclude types of cancers.

Hopefully it's nothing, but don't ignore it.

EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn · 23/05/2022 20:05

For fuck’s sake get it checked out ASAP.

My mother had that and it was womb cancer. She’s just had a hysterectomy & because she went to the GP as soon as she noticed, they think it hasn’t spread. We’re waiting to find out for certain.

SunshineCake · 23/05/2022 20:30

Sorry to hear about your mum @EmpressaurusWitchDoesntBurn and I hope she makes a full recovery.

I have had irregular bleeding for over three years and most recently, in December I had a hysteroscopy iirc. All was said to be okay. Years ago a doctor casually said I might have endometrial cancer but was then told it was a fibroid. I have had two one week periods of bleeding and the second time was when I had been going through a very stressful time. I am having a scan next month and have just had more bleeding today, only light, and tbh I am starting to get a bit worried. I am also having repeat blood tests as my last ones showed a problem with my kidney function.

Thanks SunshineCake. I hope yours turns out not to be serious.

SunshineCake · 24/05/2022 18:27

I've been a bit worried today as been having random pains in my side, tummy and back.

@SunshineCake

I was just wondering how you are getting on?

I had a similar problem to you, in that I had very heavy periods. I would need to change my sanity protection every 30 minutes to keep flooding down to a minimum.

I went to see my GP as I couldn’t go on with this, as you can imagine! She sent me a referral to gynaecology on the 2 week pathway. I was seen within the week. The gynaecologist did a scan and found that I had thickening of my uterus ~ endometrial hyperplasia.

The gynaecologist said that the endometrial hyperplasia is due to 3 things ~
A fibroid, pre cancerous cells or cancer. So she took a biopsy which was sent to the lab. The biopsy showed no fibroid and luckily for me no cancer at that time. The doctor explained that it could turn into cancer and the way to prevent it is to have the mirena coil fitted as this thins out the endometrium. I had this fitted and whilst I am still bleeding thankfully not as much. I have repeat biopsies every 6 months which are showing that the thickness of the uterine wall is reducing.

Do you have a date for your scan? Maybe your bleeding is due to a fibroid as before. I’m not sure if this helps! Do let us know how you get on.

Hi @MrsT777 thanks for asking after me. I'm sorry you have been through all that. I hope you will be okay. I have my scan in June and I have had one or two lots of bleeding since the scan.

@MrsT777 I wouldn't want your post to worry the OP. Your consultant was a little less detailed with what they said. There are 4 types of hyperplasia ranging from 'simple' to 'atypical complex'. Simple does not always become cancerous. Some types are just a simple overgrowth of the lining which is treated to progestin. (The Mirena can be used, but so can the drug Norethisterone.) They always treat hyperplasia just to be sure it doesn't turn cancerous, but some cells are normal - just a lot of them.

MrsT777 · 30/05/2022 21:36

@SunshineCake

Thank you for asking about me. I hope I didn’t worry you talking about endometrial cancer. I wouldn’t usually mention it but I noted that it had been mentioned to you before by a doctor and another poster had mentioned it too 💐

@JinglingHellsBells

Thank you for your information.

SunshineCake · 30/05/2022 22:04

I would rather know all the possibilities but I am trying not to worry. I'm either okay or I'm not.

In something of the same position - recently had my third occurrence of post-menopausal bleeding.

They check each time to make sure its not cancer but I have no idea when - or if - if it will ever stop.
