I have been told by my gp that I am peri menopausal. I had the coil inserted yesterday and currently waiting for the chemist to get some patches in.

apart from this what else do I need to take or can I do to help how I feel. I am getting hot night flushes. Also I am feeling down and teary one minute and really cross and and angry the next. It’s really not like me at all. I just want to get back to my old self.

The HRT will help, hang in there.
I take B12, iron, D3 ( blood tests showed deficiency) and chocolate. And I’m going to get up as soon as the dryer is finished and put a bottle of white wine in the fridge.
Cotton knickers and men’s cotton T-shirts.
I get ready to go to bed at 9 on work days. Shower, teeth, double cleanse, retinol cream, moisturiser, HRT, body moisturiser, hand cream, a book, sleep hypnosis.
Shower before and after sleep. The morning one finish with cold water.
Exercise. I walk the dog on the days I’m working (4 days) for an hour in the morning and an hour after work. On my days off I run/swim/do body pump/Pilates. Start small, 20 minutes a day.
Book stuff. Sounds bonkers, but having something nice to look forward to helps getting out of the slump. I walked the dog yesterday morning for an hour and a half, in absolute torrential rain, I stopped at the bakery on the way, came home, had a shower, had fresh pastry with a glass of orange juice and then we both had a nap 😂.
HTH.

Swapping to soya milk and cutting back dairy has knocked my menopausal acne and night sweats on the head 👍 I haven’t ventured into HRT……yet! blog.lisahealth.com/blog/2019/9/28/pros-and-cons-of-soy-for-menopause?format=amp

The men’s cotton T-shirts to sleep in, I mean. I ‘revamped’ my wardrobe to accommodate my middle age-ness. these trousers and this top are amazing at hiding the bloating.

@BuddhaAtSea its been a revelation for me! And I speak as a lifetime
milky tea and coffee drinker! Took
a period of adjustment but can’t stand dairy milk in my drinks now!

I'm taking B12, Omega 3 & 6 combo, D3 and Folic Acid (Both via prescription)

Word of warning to those cutting out dairy. I did this 2 years ago as I went off milk and dairy. GP thought I was probably lactose intolerant. I'm now massively Vitamin D deficient despite having taken a high strength supplement daily supplement for 2 years. Vitamin D needs Calcium in order for the body to absorb it.

vitamins D, B6, Bcomplex, Calcium, Magnesium and evening primrose/starflower oil. Taken every morning.

Hot flushes came, then went and are now back again but not as bad as the horrendous, clothing, bedding changing night sweats I had before.

I walk a lot, cycle, dance. I’ve had to cut down the running as my joints ache too much. I sleep and nap when I feel I need to.

breakfast coffee and toast. Lunch large bowl of granola, fruit, Nat yoghurt, seeds, decent dinner.

can’t and don’t drink much alcohol but haven’t cut out dairy. It still agrees with me.

can’t take HRT.

if anyone concerned about Vit D. I can still have cheese and yogurt, just replacing milk with soya milk was good for me. In terms of night sweats think the addition of soya, rather than removal of dairy, was key. For the acne it’s definitely the milk which triggers it for me.

I take iron tablets, B12 and Marine Collagen. Total game changer for me! If I miss a few days I can tell the difference and I'm also on HRT - Femoston.

Iron, starflower oil, B12, Hemp Seed in the morning. Magnesium and 5htp at night. I feel lots better for it. HRT is great but didn't solve lack of motivation but since tbe vets it feels better.
