Starting oestrogel side effects

I'm on day three of my first oestrogel pump, two pumps per day in the evening . I still have periods, am early 50's and will take my first pill on the 15th.
Thing is it's making me feel dizzy, tired and spaced out and I was wondering if I should cut down to one pump? Can't get a go appointment for weeks and don't know where else to go. Has anyone experienced this?

No didn't have that. I had weight gain and huge boobs. Awful. Terrible
Moods as well. I had to come off it.

I only did one pump last night and definitely feel less spaced out this morning but not totally normal. I had wondered if there was an interaction with my AD.

I had side effects for a couple of months with HRT which did eventually settle down. I am very glad I persevered and can’t imagine being without it now, I felt horrendous before I started. I felt spacey and a bit out of it at first, alongside headaches and dizziness (though that could have been from a drop in oestrogen). On the plus side the brain fog, anxiety and extreme tiredness was a lot better after a couple of weeks. You could try splitting the pumps one in the morning and one in the evening until your body gets used to it.

Thank you although I wouldn't wish it in anyone but at least I know I'm not the only one. I'm seriously considering stopping and doing a bit more research as it was px to me in a 4 minute call with the gp so I don't feel informed

I'm Considering going private as I want a tailored prescription after my experience. GPS just don't have the time even tho my gp was lovely.

I am on everol Sequi patches and currently feel dreadful. Anxiety, abdo ache/bloated, dizziness, insomnia. It feels worse than without HRT. I had lost weight but, am so bloated now that none of my new clothes fit 😭.
I am hoping when I switch to the progesterone next week I might feel better!!

I am not even fit for work. When I realised I was peri menopausal I improved my experience, took vitamins, quit alcohol, increased water intake and felt amazing despite night sweats, joint pain and brain fog. I am wondering if I should have just stuck with that.

Yes I was considering this as well I just can't believe that one size fits all with medications

Horrible for you - it's only been 3 days for me but I've got period back ache like a teenager!

@Rupertpenrysmistress

Exactly that. I was so fat. It was ridiculous and it didn't improve with the tabs I'm afraid for me

Hi applespearsbears,
Yes this has been my experience, I relate 100% and it’s only just dawned on my these last few weeks of not taking it (after 3.5 years on it) that it is the gel. I think it’s v popular and so assumed it was me all this time. How are you getting on if you don’t mind me asking? It’s a tough journey isn’t it? I’m thinking of switching to a v low dose patch.

LookingAtYou · 19/10/2022 10:53

That's the benefit of gel, you can increase or decrease without needing to speak to a hcp.

It is sensible to stick to 1 pump for a couple of weeks until your body becomes adjusted to it then increase to 2 if needed. Some women in their 50s don't always need as much oestrogen as younger women in their 40s.
