Chronic fatigue

Posting here but this could be menopause related.

I am suffering extreme tiredness, low energy, irritability and mood swings.

I have no other menopause symptoms. I am 49 and otherwise fit and healthy, usually high energy and happy.

Last year was a horrifically stressful year at work. It lasted all year and was toxic at the end. I saw my GP in September with what felt like depression and stress. A week later I got covid and was ill for 4 weeks.

Fatigue set in during November. Off work til January. Went back 4 days a week into new role, v supportive team. Early March hit the proverbial wall again and had to stop completely.

Fast forward to today. Back at work but struggling. On 3 days a week.

GP thinks its long Covid but put me onto HRT three months ago which doesnt appear to have any effect at all.

OH erring towards menopause being the cause but given the lack of impact of HRT i am now not sure.

I think the fatigue could be burnout from work and the pandemic generally, exacerbated by getting covid on top.of it, which was the nail in the coffin and my body telling me to stop. But I'm not sure.

I am at my wits end. I'm permanently tired, in bed by 8pm, grumpy with my kids and losing the will.

Any thoughts or advice are welcome.

Sorry I meant this could be Covid related even though I'm posting in the menopause section.

Are you also on antidepressants? I couldn't stop sleeping and had serious brain fog when on Citalopram. Common side effect.

Could be meno, though HRT should help and it isn;t.

Are you taking Vitamin D spray? Vit D deficiency causes extreme fatigue and if you've been tired and off work, at home anyway, with less time outdoors, that could cause it. Try a high dose daily spray. Iron capsules or liquid herbal iron supplements are worth trying too, in case you are anaemic.

i get knackered now, menopausal, lack of sleep etc

have you had your bloods checked? For b12 or iron deficiency?

CoQ10 · 04/05/2022 22:21

Not on anti depressants.

I will try the Vit D spray, thank you .

I've had every blood test under the sun and nothing weird going on.

Ive not been tested for testosterone however which I learnt today via a podcast could be imbalanced too given my age, altho not sure what symptoms a lack of testosterone would cause.

When menopause hit I would get out of bed in the morning and just want to crawl straight back in - very unusual for me, lifelong lark. Was just completely wiped out all the time.

Did about a year/18 months on HRT, which got me through the exhaustion and the hot flushes.

My GP is no menopause expert. I would love to speak to a doctor who really knows their stuff on menopause, and have ALL the tests. I came off HRT because I was sick and tired of going back to having periods, and have no idea whether I'd be better off on it long term.

Op lack of testosterone can cause tiredness I believe

CoQ10 · 04/05/2022 22:28

Can anyone recommend a Vit D spray?
