Is there any point getting prescribed HRT if there is none available?

A couple of years ago I discovered I needed estrogen for a number of symptoms. I also wanted contraception so my GP decided that the pill was the right answer despite the fact I am fast heading to 50.
So at nearly 50 I am still on the combined pill and at some point I am meant to start on HRT but from everything I have read there's not enough to go around and so what is the point?
I am concerned about the blood clot and stroke risk of staying on a combined pill but with no estrogen supplements out there are there any alternatives?

There is HRT available. Plenty of estrogen patches and Utrogestan at the moment, and patches with estrogen+norethisterone.

Do you know if there is any estrogen only as I would want to take with POP.

You would still need extra progesterone if on POP

It's possible to use the mini pill with estrogen but it would probably need a specialist to prescribe the correct amount (it was offered to me as an option as an alternative to another progestin I was using.) You need a lot more than is in 1 tablet.

I am on Femoston tablets. I don't think a shortage of this type of HRT...

I didn’t realise this. I didn’t get on with the POP- I keep being told utrogestan has less side effects but if it’s got more progesterone that the POP that seems unlikely?

Are you the OP @Secretname123 ?

She's asking about the availability and types.

Sorry- not being arsy but maybe start your own thread as it's a very different question.

Mini pill and Utrogestan are totally different things.

I've had no issue getting oestrogel. S London.

Have had no issues getting patches, just had 6 months worth prescribed and available the same day at the pharmacy.
