Has anyone tried Sleepstation for insomnia?

They’ve sent me an offer to sign up for £160 (apparently some NHS areas cover the cost but mine don’t) so was wondering if anyone has tried it and can recommend? I’m on HRT (2 pumps oestrogel and utrogestan tablets) which has worked on some symptoms but had no effect on sleep. I average about 4 hours a night and am constantly knackered. GP prescribed amitriptyline last year but that didn’t have much effect and seemed to cause headaches so I’ve stopped taking them. Thanks in advance for any advice x

I have done it - it has given me "tools" to help if I cannot get back to sleep for example. It has also helped me understand more about sleep cycles etc. It was not a miracle cure, but has helped a little.
I got it free via NHS - but I had to insist the GP looks into it as they had never heard of it. Interestingly, I just checked on Sleepstation and it says it is not available in my area which is strange. Maybe it has changed since I did it.
I would ask your GP to refer you for some CBT - mention Sleepstation and Sleepio and say you understood they are available on NHS and see what they say.
I don't know if I would spend £160 - prob not - maybe research sleep CBT and you should find some free resources.

I tried it for a few weeks but I think whether or not it works depends on the reasons for your insomnia. At the stage of the programme I was at there was an emphasis on getting up in the night after 15 mins awake and sitting downstairs for 30-60 minutes. Also sleep restriction (only being in bed for 5 hours a night). Maybe the later weeks brought more nuance but I didn’t get that far. Since I’m pretty certain my difficulties were/are to do with temperature fluctuations and peri menopause emotional changes, getting up and down several times a night was more of a hindrance. I’ve done some 121 CBTi and followed some of Guy Meadows work which is more about mindfulness and staying relaxed even when you can’t sleep. It’s a very personal decision though. I wish you well!!

Thank you both that’s really helpful. I might try the GP first and see what they say xx
