Testosterone levels from blood test

Hoping someone with good knowledge of hormones may be able shed some light on this for me.... I have been on Oestrogel maximum dose for 6 months now. It works well, but recently I've been getting bad joint and muscle pain back again. That, along with having the libido of a wet dish cloth, led me to ask the GP for testosterone.
GP did blood test and said it was satisfactory. I have just got access to the results, and though they may be 'satisfactory ' they seem far from optimal from what I can see. Am I reading this right? I want to go back and argue the case that it is worth a try but don't want to look like an idiot if I am misinterpreting?

Hi there just seen your question. What is your Free Androgen Index result as this is what will determine if you have a low testosterone level?

Rachelaj · 20/04/2022 12:14

If your free Androgen Index is less than 1% then you have low testosterone. To work this out you divide your total testosterone value by the sex hormone binding globulin result and then multiply that by 100 for your score. Looking at your results it seems like you definitely have low testosterone and you should be offered trial of testosterone therapy. I had to do my homework to get myself prescribed. I will try send you documentation for you to put to your GP which states you should be on testosterone replacement therapy. Look at balance my hormones website for more info too.

Read this and then send it to your GP then nicely state you want to try trial of testosterone replacement therapy for at least 6 months as per NICE clinical guidelines. Also look up info on British Menopause Society. Good luck

Thank you so much @Rachelaj The results didn't give an exact number for the Free Androgen Index other than the <1%.
I did an online request for testosterone to the GP and they are calling me tomorrow, so that is promising, I hope! Thanks so much for the info, I'll read up and arm myself in case they say no again. Can't really see how they can argue that those levels are satisfactory!

That's great news you are having a call back. Emphasis the fact your Free Androgen Index is below 1% and you have very low libido etc. Based on those symptoms & readings they have to trial you on course of Testosterone Replacement Therapy.
My GP also said my blood results were normal when in fact they were not....I had to calculate my Free Androgen Index myself and gave them 2 documents highlighting need to prescribe testosterone. They then agreed to me trialing it off label as it isn't licensed to prescribe for women in UK.
The two pdf documents I emailed my GP I have given in my previous message with the other one below.
Fingers crossed for a good outcome tomorrow - I have only had 3 doses of testosterone and already am feeling better with slightly more energy :)
