My Oestrogel saga yesterday

At my practice you are only allowed HRT once a month and you have to request it in writing. You cannot ask for it as a repeat and you cannot use the online system. This has been since Jan 2022 " to allow proper monitoring" of its use. I requested Oestrogel or the Sandrena sachets that they have been handing out in dribs and drabs in the last few months when in the pharmacy a few weeks ago but yesterday when I went to collect I was told there was no record of my request and they would have to ask the doctor for a script so check later with reception. This was at midday. Bear in mind we are just about to enter a 4 day weekend. Of course I didn't get the script yesterday so MAY get it on Tuesday if the doctor has time. This is despite me telling them that I am going on holiday on Wednesday. I know I am not the only patient in the practice. I e mailed the practice manager about this as they will not speak to people until you have filled in a complaints form.I drew her attention to the latest guidelines by the BMS society. This manager has form for letting the pharmacist call you to discuss things with you and will never put any answers in writing despite requests. (There is another part to the story as well which involves them also not providing another med which I need yesterday as well so that adds to the chaos but muddies the water as not menopause related although something that is required every day). I have e mailed them about my unhappiness and have drawn their attention to the latest 12th April BMS guidelines about this. Any other suggestions about how to handle this with them? This is not the first time I have had cause to complain ( this will be the third and it centres on lack of communication they have with patients) but there seems no improvement. Would I be justified in making a formal external complaint? I know people will say change practices but they are the only one available in our semi rural setting. Thanks for any suggestions.

It's completely unacceptable.

Legally, all you need is an annual review.

I suggest you raise it with whoever runs the practice- you have done this.

Write to your MP

Ask for a face to face appt with a dr and discuss. And don't say what you need the appt for, just say it's confidential and you will only speak to the dr- don't be filtered out by the reception desk.

Thanks. I'm going to follow this up when I return.
