Testosterone

I’ve been on testosterone for almost a month. Already been on estradot 100 patches for 6 years. I’m over the moon with the testosterone and feeling better than I ever have in my life. Libido is back, muscles are growing, I have energy, feel really positive in mood, sleeping well.
Anyone else enjoying the benefits or experiencing any side effects?
I am a bit more irritable about little things, micro aggressions I suppose you could call it. Don’t know if related .

That’s great to hear!
Which t product do you use and how much ?

I’ve started testogel today and am hoping for similar benefits to you.
Currently on femeston Conti and this alone is isn’t addressing libido, sleep or muscle strength.

Thanks.

Apileofballyhoo · 09/04/2022 23:00

Why femostan conti Runaround? Were you not absorbing through patches/gels?

turnaroundtouchtheground · 10/04/2022 08:22

Oops posted too soon..

… tricky to remember sometimes but I was given a choice between thst and a sachet that needs to be divided into 10 doses and it seemed the better option.

Apileo, patches caused me too bleed too much and I hate gel.
I feel stuck with it all in truth.

Assuming you're in the UK, what is the basis on which GPs prescribe? I ask as it's not licensed for women as I understand it.

LaingsAcidTab · 10/04/2022 22:40

I'm on Androfeme, .75ml daily, rubbed on to my upper thigh. It is definitely making a difference after 6 months. I get it through Louise Newson's surgery as a private patient.

IStandWithMaya · 10/04/2022 23:27

Interesting. Do you get any extra unwanted side effects, OP?

It can be prescribed off licence on the nhs for women who have reduced libido related to menopause. Particularly if they are already on oestrogen and continue to have problems. But each practice is different and lots of GPs still refuse to prescribe despite the evidence that it is helpful and beneficial and it is a female hormone as well as a male one. It is just replacing what was naturally there before peri menopause. It’s the same product as given to men but the female dose is lower. It’s also possible to get a women specific product… Androfeme (as @LaingsAcidTab is explaining above) privately.

I’m not sure yet as it’s only been a month. I have been a bit snappy and quick to react and get pissed off but it’s fleeting. That’s not listed as a potential side effect by the way! That’s me wondering if it is somehow related. The listed possible but uncommon side effects are things like a little bit of hair growth around where you apply the gel. Other things which are very rare like an enlarged clitoris and a deeper voice.

OMG I was coming on to post for advice on this very subject!

Booked appointment at GP to discuss but first telephone appointment not until the middle of May 🙄

At least I'll be well armed with info by then!

turnaroundtouchtheground · 11/04/2022 16:18

@FatFucker Are you already on HRT? What advice are you looking for?

I've been on testosterone for 5 weeks prescribed on the NHS by my gp. I haven't yet had any improvement but note it's still early days plus I may well need to up my estrogen dose.

For those hoping to be prescribed by their gp, you must give all the emphasis you can on lack of libido. Marriage almost on the rocks due to it. Total despair. Feeling worthless. I kid you not, its the only way you'll get it.

LadyGardenersQuestionTime · 16/04/2022 16:29

Yes! Started about 4 weeks ago and the difference is astonishing. Actually want to jump DH frequently. I’ve been meaning to start a thread myself here.

Echo the Libido message to the GP but she was willing after I’d upped my evorel for a month or two which lifted my mood but not my libido.

I know it doesn’t work for everyone, so I count myself lucky.

I’m on the gel sachets you have to use over 10 days, and did have a bit of a learning curve remembering to use it/getting the blob roughly the right size.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 16/04/2022 16:29

Does it help with sleep? I'm on Everol conti patches and my sleep is still pretty bad. I work shifts and I struggle so much.

Also my libido vanished. I went straight into menopause at 41, so it's pretty crap

WombatChocolate · 06/05/2022 18:58

I was prescribed Tostran today after 4 months on HRT and no improvement in libido. GP was up for prescribing and said she had before but not often. Had to look it all up (no prob) but then proceeded to tell me dosages for a man - significantly higher than for a woman on HRT.

Although I’m really glad to get it, and the small bottle I have will last me over 6 months and not the 1 month she said, I’m very converned this happened and I’m sure I read something similar the other day.

TheOGCCL · 06/05/2022 19:04

@WombatChocolate This happened to me too though with Testogel. In February GP prescribed 30 little tubes and said he was sorry but I’d have to call them for a repeat prescription every month. You’d only use a tube a day if you were male, I use a tube over 10 days so 30 tubes will actually last most of the year. We really do have to take control with this stuff.

turnaroundtouchtheground · 06/05/2022 21:14

That is shocking…. Your GP should know the difference between prescribing for men and women!!
I haven’t seen an improvement with sleep tbh but the light mornings and birdsong are a problem
for me and I’ve recently come off a sleep medication so that isn’t surprising
Interestingly my muscle to fat ratio has changed in favour of muscle and I am feeling a lot lot stronger which is great!
