Collagen peptides to help itchy skin?

Does anyone take this? Does it help your skin and if so which one do you take?
My skin has become so incredibly itchy from my toes to my scalp. I'm ripping my toes, legs and scalp to shreds as I can't stop scratching.
I'm healthy, I eat plenty of good foods, I exercise regularly, don't drink caffeine, don't eat too much sugar and I look after my skin. I've tried lots of different moisturisers and I'm even moisturising my scalp around my ears where it's particularly bad.
I've read such good things about collagen peptides but am I being fooled or is it really what I need?

TBH I'd see your GP and if they can't help, ask for a referral to a dermatologist. Have you got a rash or just itching?

Waiting lists can be years, so you may want to think about seeing one privately.

The easiest thing you can do at the moment is buy some OTC antihistamines the sort used for hay fever, to see if they help, or have a word with the pharmacist to see if they can suggest one.

Because you've posted this in the meno forum, does this mean you are linking it to menopause?

I know that collagen taken orally is useless, as it doesn't actually get to the skin, and peptides are found in most moisturising creams as they supposedly help the skin to thicken and build itself.

I'd expect if it was an effective treatment for itchy skin it would be suggested by drs.

Thank you for your response.
Yes, I am linking it to menopause. It's one of many changes that have happened to me recently and it's driving me crazy with the itching.
I should and probably shall go to the doctors but it doesn't seem important enough to use their appointment up with.

I wasn't sure what you meant by collagen peptides. The only place that I can see them mentioned together, is in face creams that are for wrinkles!

Collagen alone as an oral supplement doesn't work. Peptides are a form of skincare too.

Did you mean swallowing some supplement with them in or applying it to your body?

They're in Holland and Barrett. It's a supplement that you add to a drink or sprinkle on cereal. It's an ingestible collagen.

I've had dry skin all my life and it's getting more pronounced with age. Haven't tried collagen, but have you already tried simple lipid-based treatments? The trouble with conventional moisturizers is that they're water-based, when dry skin really needs more fat rather than water. I find that plain grease creams do a great job stopping itchiness, as does olive oil especially for my scalp.

I haven't tried olive oil. That's a good idea, thank you.
I've just rubbed lots of Vaseline on various areas including some of my scalp! :)
