Ultrogestan- feeling anxious and worse?

everythingisgoingup · 20/03/2022 08:05

Started taking HRT on 1st March

Oestrogel 2 pumps

In 15 th March I started taking ultrogestan. Initially I felt ok but the last couple of mornings I have felt really anxious, palpitations etc

Anyone else had this?

I am supposed to continue until 26th March but I am wondering whether to stop as I feel so anxious

I am going to try splitting the oestrogel (1 pump morning and evening) as suggested on here

I have not had the dizziness that some people talk about, just the last couple of days I have felt panicked first thing in the morning Sad

It is different to the anxiety I had before so it is related to the tablets!

Thanks 😊

jinglinghellsbells any advice?

How much UTROGESTAN are you taking? 2 capsules for 12 days or 1 capsule daily?

If you can, stick with it and it may get better. You can insert the capsules vaginally last thing at night which can reduce side effects.

Hi jinglinghellsbells I am on two tablets which I take at night.

I initially felt ok, started last Tuesday, and I felt really anxious this morning and yesterday morning.

I am wondering if it settles with time?

I was told by GP to take it for fourteen days but the insert says twelve so I am going for what the insert says.

@everythingisgoingup hi, I am just wondering how you got on?

I have just started taking hrt and this is my second day of taking 2 Ultrogestan. I feel the same as you did and very groggy!

Thanks

@Workinghardeveryday my gp advised me to take it vaginally rather than orally so that it worked locally rather than more generally. It’s worked for me. They make a Pessary version, but it’s actually the same capsules, just in a box with an applicator, and costing more, so I just use the regular ones and my prescription now says orally or vaginally. Cut out the horrible side effects. I put them in as I go to bed. It’s an off label use, but I think it’s pretty widely used now. Might be worth speaking to your gp about it. Dosing is the same either way.

Can you just use the regular utrogestan vaginally? Sorry to jump on thread OP because I LOVE utrogestan 🤣 and find it stabilises my mood and really helps my sleep but it does give me digestive issues. So vaginally might be better.

Workinghardeveryday · 02/03/2023 08:28

@UnfinishedBusiness thank you that is good to know.

what were your side effects out of interest?

UnfinishedBusiness · 02/03/2023 08:36

@Workinghardeveryday id describe it as feeling seriously “twitchy”. Pounding heart, really anxious (I think, I’m not normally an anxious person, but I imagine that was it), agitated almost. And massively irritable (worse than the original reason for HRT irritable 😂).

@Fredoraly it’s just the normal ones I’m taking vaginally.

Workinghardeveryday · 02/03/2023 10:34

@UnfinishedBusiness see I am an anxious person but I feel very much worse than I did.

thi I may give your way a go if I am no better!

everythingisgoingup · 02/03/2023 17:15

workinghardeveryday

Thanks to advice here and elsewhere I now get the pessaries instead, easier on my stomach. I’ve used the tablets vaginally when I ran out. You do seem to have to push up pretty far I find, the pessaries are quite big and need to dissolve properly!
I suggest trying this instead of orally.
