HRT and migraines

My gynecologist has said I need to start taking HRT due to early perimenopause (42) and low bone density. I am a bit worried becuase both the mini pill (and to a lesser extent) the combined pill gave me migraines.

Does anyone know which type of HRT would decrease the chance of migraines developing? I also need contraception but am worried about having a mirana coil for the same reason.

Is HRT any less likely than the pill to cause migraines? I assume it is the progesterone part that was the issue as they were terrible with the mini pill.

You just need to try it and see. There are many types of HRT and they are very different to the Pill. Your bones and long term health are very important.

I've had migraine since I was 12 so over 50 years. I've used HRT for almost 14 years and it's not made any difference. I still get the occasional migraine but actually fewer than ever, and they are brought on by the usual things that have always triggered them- stress, lack of sleep and missing meals.
