Estrogen only v combined HRT

I discovered last September that the coil I had inserted was not compatible with HRT (it fell out!) so since then I’ve had no coil and no HRT. I’m happy not to have the coil reinserted as although I’m still having periods they’re very light and not troublesome at all. However my peri symptoms are worse than ever-constant dull headache, day and night sweats, anxiety, fatigue and just no motivation at all. I’m dragging myself through the day.

So I’ve decided to go back on HRT but will this time have to go onto the combined as I’ve no longer got a coil. Has anyone tried both and can compare? Just wondering out of interest whether one is any more effective than the other? Plus in terms of the combined are tablets the best option?

Any experiences or advice very welcome Smile

@ButtOutBobsMum You might want MNHQ to change the subject title. It's not what you are really asking:) I was confused.

Estrogen-only HRT is only for women who have no womb. So you can't have that.

Combined HRT means both estrogen + progestogen every day - for women over 54 or with no periods for 12 months.

What I think you want to know is experiences of the Mirena compared to other types of HRT.

Tablets suit some women but not others. At the moment, the trend is to use estrogen as a patch or gel as that eliminates blood clot risk. Then, add in progestogen either in the patch (for half the month) or with a progesterone pill.

Is this what you mean?
