Estrogen levels after taking hrt.

Having been on hrt for months now, and with increasing doses, my estrogen level was still only 236 on my last blood test. I was told it needs to be above 250 for symptoms to recede. Have others onhrt had their levels checked? And what level did the check show? I’m curious to know what sort of level others are reaching on their hrt because this may explain why my hrt doesn’t appear to be working. It will vary a lot I’m sure but mine must be a lot lower than most people on hrt.

@Dawnpri You wrote this before

I’m using 100 patches and using 2.5 of them. The menopause clinic told me to do this because I wasn’t absorbing very well, according to the last check of my estrogen levels. Apparently they have women on 400 sometimes!

Are you being treated at an NHS menopause clinic?

Are the drs menopause specialists?

I've been on HRT for almost 14 years and during that time, both reading forums and talking to women on HRT, I've never ever come across anyone on a 250mcgs patch.

It is pretty much unheard of to use that amount.

Most women are on 37/50 mcgs patch and some younger women with early meno might be on 100mcgs.

If I were you, I'd see a different dr. Is there any reason why you are being seen at an NHS meno clinic? Have you had complex meno issues?

As a by the way, I've never ever had my levels checked. It's not the advised way to check HRT. What drs usually do is say increase the dose to get symptom control.

I got a lot of improvement on 1 pump of gel- the same as a 25mcg patch. I still had some insomnia so went up to 1.5 or 2 pumps which is the same as a 37mcgs /50mcgs patch.

If you are able to fund it, I'd suggest you see an menopause specialist privately and discuss all of this as your treatment at the moment is very unusual.

I have been seen at a private menopause clinic. They advised the increase in patches. I am aware that most women are on lower doses. I have found other women on here that are also on higher doses. We are not all the same and quite a lot of us are quite complex! What’s working for you hasn’t worked for me. I’m on here to try and find women with similar experiences.

Okay.

I hope you find the answers you want. I have never found any women on your dose but if you have, that's fine and maybe they will 'talk' to you.
