Old injury/pelvic flare up since starting HRT?

Morining. I started HRT around a year ago thanks to a sympathetic doctor. I didn't have many peri symptoms aside from heat flashes, but I have a family history of osteoporosis and dementia so was keen to use it to minimise future health problems. However, after many years of no pelvic musculoskeletal problems, these returned after around a few months on the hormones. Now, this may well be coincidence of course, but my pelvic issues tended to flare up during pregnancy. Physio is v helpful and I see one privately who is a specialist. They think it is coiincidence but I don't and it is getting worse. ANy experience?

You haven't said what the problem actually is :)

Hi. I would be interested to know how you are getting on with the HRT. I had awful pelvic girdle pain in pregnancy that still bothers me now especially in the second half of my cycle. It seems to be getting worse as I head into peri. However when I tried cerazette (progesterone pill) a few years back the pelvic pain was instantly terrible and I was unable to walk within days. I think I need some oestrogen but I’m worried that the progesterone element will make my pelvis loose and unstable again.

Hi @Secretname123. My GP has suggested I try going off HRT for a few months and keep a note of any peri symptoms or pain related changes. I actually feel quite relieved as I have been feeling very depressed at the return of this pain. Like you, it made me essentially disabled. I'd genuinely rather have no pain and the peri symptoms than pain without hot flushes, etc. Although I am lucky my menopause symptoms aren't too bad anyway, at the moment. That may change of course. I will tell you if I notice any difference after a few weeks and so on. Do jog my memory if I forget, lol! Best wishes to you
