5 years post menopause and oily skin

My last period was over 5 years ago, flew through it with no trouble.

But, now I'm getting g oily skin like I was a teenager! Having to wash it at least three times a day or it feels like I'm caked in make up. I have never really worn foundation, my saving grace is always having good even skin and not needed it, but the few times I have it has felt like this, as if I'm wearing a oily mask.

Anyone else had this?

Oh wow yes I am! I had really oily skin till my late 40s . I started the menopause at 53 and my skin felt normal for the first time. No oil slick t-zone and makeup stayed perfect all day. For the last 2 or 3 years the amount of oil is ridiculous. I’m still on HRT (been on it for 7 years) so have no idea why it’s reverted to this oily state again at 61. So far I’ve not found anything to balance it have you?

I had oily skin as a teenager, although never really got spots. I've been lucky that my skin is the thing everybody remarks on. I'm in my 60's and it's still good, till now. I've just washed it with warm water and a flannel, and within an hour it feels awful again.
I've never had a skin care regime, I've never used anything on it apart from water. When I was a teenager I used Witch Hazel if it was really greasy but that is it. Was thinking of getting some again.

I'm no expert but wonder if witch hazel might strip your skin of all and make it produce more in retaliation. When I use anything for oily skin now that's what seems to happen. I can't use anything strong as it also seems very sensitive too. I guess witch hazel is cheap enough to try. If it doesn't help you've not lost a lot of money. I've no idea what to try next.. I seem to be wasting money on stuff that doesn't help or makes my skin tight and sore

My DDIL uses it on her skin which was really bad after I said I had used it, so I might borrow a dab hen she's here for the weekend. If not it will be back to washing it every few hours.
