Hello! I am alas on my last antibiotic from the gp and I can feel my UTI coming back already, it's so persistent. I've tried d-mannose and the pure Biona cranberry juice as a preventative but nothing works and the antibiotics only buy me time, don't actually get rid of it. I'm on Mirena and HRT. Any advice very welcome- the HRT has helped with all my other meno symptoms but not this one Confused

Are you using vaginal estogen as well as HRT? If not, that's the advice.

Ask your GP for Ovestin or Vagifem and have a read about how it can help.

Thank you HellsBells! I’m off to the gp this afternoon and will ask for Ovestin or Vagifem.

Hi OP, this was me last week, I was reduced to tears with constant UTIs, what also felt like thrush, constant toilet visits and pain in my bladder. My GP gave me ovestin and I could have kissed him by the second day.

Great to hear 2dogs! I got vagifem from my Dr yesterday and hope it does the trick!

I had really persistent UTI last year that no antibiotics would clear. Eventually a GP gave me two thrush tablets (oral) and a single one off antibiotic sachet called Monuril. I had to take a thrush tablet first and then the sachet and then a few days later the other thrush tablet. It worked! I would swear by Monuril and it's well worth a try. It's available over the counter in Spain but unfortunately prescription only here. Another tip, recently I developed another UTI. Felt very hesitant about going down the antibiotic route again so decided to try these tablets I had at home called Utipro Plus. A GP had given me a free sample. I took two twice a day for 5 days and the UTI cleared! Another GP told me they're being promoted a lot as an alternative to antibiotics but that there's lack of evidence they work. However they did seem to work for me so might be worth a try anyway. I'm continuing to take one a day now for 15 days in hopes of warding off more UTIs. I tried d-mannose before but ultimately felt it was making me go more often.

Another vote for the life changing properties of Ovestin. Ah, the glamour of vaginal atrophy.

Hi I'm about to start vagifem (vagirux) and not sure if I can just start it any time (I still have a fairly regular cycle)?

This was me until I started on Vagifem. Since I started on it last October none ( touch wood) whereas before it was at least 2 a month.
