I'm 48, perimenopausal and have been on HRT for the past year (oestrogel and Utrogestan)
I've recently noticed pain in the joints of my fingers and figure it's really start of osteoarthritis.

Are there any supplements that you recommend to help slow progression?
I already exercise (cardio&weight), maintain a good weight, limit alcohol and eat relatively well.
Thanks

You should ask your gp to refer you to a rheumatologist.

It's easy to assume it's osteoarthritis but some women do develop RA in their 40s so you need to have X rays and blood tests to find out what it is.

Hi
I had an x ray last year which diagnosed osteoarthritis in my hips.
Aswell as starting hrt patches I now take 1000mg of glucosamine an chondroitin which seems to help most days.

Talk to GP -- could be many reasons for your joint ache & best form of treatment varies. You aren't supposed to self-diagnose what it could be. They xray to help diagnose.

I have spinal osteoarthritis (since 19 unfortunately, but I’m now 49). Glucosamine helps a little, as do a good dose of general multivitamins, CBD did nothing for me. I am on a cocktail of opiates & nerve interrupting drugs (there are other spinal issues too) which keep the pain down a little.

Go to your GP for a referral to look rule out rheumatoid arthritis (my Mum was diagnosed in her 40s). Otherwise, exercise, keep on moving as best you can too. A good physio post diagnosis can be a wonderful thing too!

Hope you find some answers & relief soon.
