I think this is the third time

I have my uterus but not ovaries & I'm on evoral conti

I had covid 13 weeks ago and I know it messes with periods but I don't have periods

Do I have to speak to the gp?

I had a really bad experience with a biopsy a few years back, so I must be very sensitive

So theyvlady that did they scan said everything was clear

Got a text this afternoon:
Dear Mrs Katymac

I have reviewed your scan report; it showed a benign growth of the womb, there is no changes from the previous scan. Fibroids are common and usually cause no symptoms and do not need any treatment. Please see below the link below for more info:
patient.info/womens-health/periods-and-period-problems/fibroids
If you like to consider treatment for symptoms such as heavy periods, please speak to a clinician at the surgery.

Kind regards, Dr

Now I'm menopausal - no ovaries so periods and references to them seem unlikely

I has a polyp removed 2 yrs ago so if there are no changes since the scan I had before the surgery.....has the polyp grown back? Or is this a different second growth they didn't remove last time - how can the 2 scans be similar if I had bits cut out?

Confused

Fibroids are common and usually cause no symptoms and do not need any treatment.

Isn't the report saying you have a small fibroid?

And last time you said they removed a polyp.

Fibroids can grow with estrogen (HRT) and I suppose it's possible it was there before but not seen.

If you are worried or unsure, phone them to ask?

So they aren't the same thing.

KatyMac · 04/02/2022 22:03

Yes I rang and I'm waiting for them to get back to me about whether I still have the hospital appt - I guess Monday now

But the scan can't look the same as last time if they removed something last time

I had a scan after finding out I had fibroids where they said I had polyps. Fibroids also grow within the wall so maybe not seen. Maybe it's one of those has now grown beyond the wall? I don't know if that's what they do.

KatyMac · 04/02/2022 22:59

I guess it will work out - just hate that it's Friday so I won't know till Monday

Is it normal @KatyMac to receive results by text? That seems odd- surely you'd get a letter and it would be sent to your GP too?

Clearly the text is a cut and paste job where your name and some of your details are added but the rest is a generic reply ( as the part about periods doesn't apply.)

Maybe you are misreading what they mean?
The way I read it, is that there are no concerning changes compared to last time. The only change is a fibroid (which has probably grown in two years).

The point is, this is not a personalised report- it's very much a brief summary.

I've never seen a report like this because as you went about bleeding they should have given the measurement of the womb lining as that is the most important issue (as well as anything else they may find.)

KatyMac · 05/02/2022 08:08

No I never had a text before; maybe that's why I'm feeling disconcerted and unhappy

Ok my womb lining is 4.8mm if I'd been happy to have a hysteroscopy without a general anesthetic they would have done one but as I want a general they will wait for my next bleed and if its over 5mm they will do it then

The consultant didn't think my text was very useful and it was inaccurate & she has overruled my gp about my hrt

So not a bad outcome

Sorry I should have tagged @JinglingHellsBells as the thread is a bit old now

@KatyMac I've been told many times that a measurement of over 5mm is fine when the woman is on HRT.
The under 5mm usually applies to women post meno not on HRT.

I've had zillions of scans over about 12 years (not necessarily always for bleeding, more just checking as it's done privately and I pay) and I was always reassured that the over 5mm is not an issue, it's more about the uniformity of the lining and anything that might look suspicious.
Unless you get your scan on the very final day of your bleed, (probably impossible to sort on the NHS) it's always going to be over 5mm as the estrogen in the HRT is growing it.

Well as I am averaging 2 bleeds every 4 years since they took my ovaries and I started hrt its not something I am going to worry about; unless it increases dramatically

And they said if I wasn't worried about the bleed not to worry unless it becomes regular so...
