Acne and dizziness - HRT doesn’t seem to be my friend

Has anyone experienced this? My skin has broken out like never before and the Utrogestan seems to be making my existing dizziness worse.

On week 7. I’m so tempted to throw in the towel with this… Do these side effects go away??

Perhaps need to discuss with gp as sounds like a concern.
I am not on your hrt so don't know if common.
I had some light headedness in first month of mine [femoston] but it wore off. So far, my skin ok.

I found it took a while to find the right HRT for me - I'm on the combined pill. Some tabs made my skin worse than when I was a teenager!

DinkyDaisy · 23/01/2022 11:06

My skin seems ok on femoston 1/10 tablets.

My acne seems better from taking oestrogen

Druantia · 04/05/2022 18:17

Hi BoPeep. I'm on my first round of Utrogestan and experiencing both of those effects. Last night I took it vaginally to see if I felt less dizzy, but I don't. I'll persevere, but I'm wondering how you're getting 4 months on? Hope you're doing better.

I think I’m so lucky I don’t think I’ve had any negative side effects from HRT, been on it since last October. Currently oestrogen patch and one utrogestan daily and when I can actually get through to my GP I will be asking to try testosterone because my libido hasn’t been seen in a very long time and it would be nice to desire something other than sleep.

my GP suggested I give it 3 months to settle but I’m not sure dizziness is something I could put up with for long.

Druantia · 04/05/2022 19:41

Thanks for the reply :) Good for you re the testosterone. Nice to hear that you're current dose is giving you relief. May I ask... do you take 1 utrogestan every single day? My dose is 2 x utrogestan for 12 days in every month. I'm perimenopausal. Perhaps our circumstances are different? I think I could better handle 1 a day though.

Utrogestan tablets gave me terrible headaches but I swapped to patches and they have been fabulous, no side effects at all. You might just need a different form of hrt

everythingisgoingup · 04/05/2022 21:23

Utrogestan made me feel me very anxious and gave me terrible constipation

I felt great on oestogel Sad

I survived peri in my forties and actually hit full menopause without realising for a couple of years. Was a horrible time for lots of reasons but I didn’t even consider it might be my hormones that were making life so difficult for me. Now in my early fifties it really has made a huge difference I think and I wish I’d thought about HRT earlier but yes you need to take utrogestan every day if you haven’t had a period for 12 months to balance the oestrogen.

Druantia · 05/05/2022 09:46

Thanks folks. I'm grateful for the feedback :)

TheOGCCL · 06/05/2022 19:22

Just checking you take your Utrogestan at night? I get a bit dizzy if I ever take it during the day.

My skin is great with estrogen, has stopped a lot of my breakouts.

Druantia · 07/05/2022 15:26

Thanks, yes I'm taking it at night vaginally now and perhaps I'm starting to get used to it because I haven't felt as dizzy. Phew!

I am on my 3rd month of hrt gel daily and same progesterone as yourself. It makes me very tired the next day and it gives me dreadful pain on side of right breast, as if someone sticking a clothes hanger in there if I move like a sharp dig. I also get spots which I did not even get in my teenage years but this will all balance out in a few months of taking it so hang in there. It is the surge of hormones and the body will get used to them. The positive thing is my brain fog has gone and mood is lifting and getting more energy as been through hell past few years. Good to have other women's view points on here as does help.Stick with it for a few more months and then see doctor and get it all looked over as that is what I am doing.
