Utrogestan on days 1 to 25 but period starting on day 18, what to do?

I just started HRT this month and have so far taken 17 Utrogestan capsules plus two daily pumps of Oestrogel. My normal cycle is about 19 days but I assumed that the HRT would reset it back to the 28 day cycle I had on the pill. I’ve got symptoms today (spotting, bloating, spots) that make me think that my period will start today or tomorrow.

What does that mean for me taking Utrogestan on days 1 - 25, do I start counting from 1 again if my period starts tomorrow, or do I finish taking the 25 with a 3 day break and then start again from day 1? Totally confused, can anyone help?

Hmm. My utrogestan is 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off. I don't understand why you would be taking it Bleeds are unpredictable - often don't get one, but recently they have arrived more predictably within a few days of finishing the utrogestan. When they arrive during utro I tend to discontinue it and begin a new "cycle"
No idea if this is sensible as I began hrt in March 2020 and haven't had much info from GP since (except blood pressure checks).

*don't understand why you would be taking it for 25 days?

I do the first one here. (2 weeks on2 weeks off).

I’m on my second month period arrived the day before I was due to start the Utro but I just carried on with the schedule.
It’s so confusing, GP didn’t really tell me what to do and leaflet in the packet is a bit complicated.

Thanks both, I’m not sure why I’m not two weeks in and two weeks off, but that’s the directions I’ve been given. I tried a pharmacist this morning who couldn’t help so phoned the doctors and waited from ‘you are number 20 in the queue’ only to be told that this wasn’t something she could give me a call back in today, but I could have one on Christmas Day! I’ve said that I need to know before then whether I keep going without a break so she is going to message they nurse practitioner and see if she can get a response today but no guarantees.

If anyone out there knows if I should keep taking them without a break please let me know.

Reading that link @Redcrayons I should be on the two weeks on two weeks off cycle. Annoyingly if they do call back today it’s the phone staff who will call me, not the nurse so if I have any further questions they won’t be able to help

Can you try an econsult form and ask the question? I did it when I first prescribed patches and had a question. GP phoned me back at the end of the day. Maybe they are more likely to call you if they know it’s just a quick 2 minute call.

I’ve managed to get a phone call booked for Wednesday ( hopefully not when I’m doing my click and collect) with the nurse. Hopefully I’ll be able to get answers to what to do and why Im on 1-25 instead on two weeks on two weeks off
