3 years post bc. Saw my oncologist today and asked what I could take for menopause. Was told some peppermint supplement or folic acid for hot flushes from my gp and maybe some vaginally lubricant but nothing hormonal.

I had a zoladex for a period issue last year and the menopausal symptoms were pretty bad. The thought of going through it again makes me want to cry. Told the oncologist this but not much sympathy or advice other than the above.

Anyone else in a similar situation and had any other advice from oncology or GP? I think I just want to know what to bother asking for feeling really low about it. Am 50 nearly 51 and still having regular periods for now

Menopause specialists are the people you need to see.

It's frustrating for you, but it does seem as if some meno specialists have differing opinions on this to oncologists.

There are some women on a very low dose of HRT after BC.

You can certainly use some types of ADs and also BP tablets for hot flushes.

Can you be referred to a specialist clinic like the Chelsea and Westminster one in London where they deal with cases like this?

Thank you for the advice. I'll see what just gp says anyway but yes it's frustrating. I just got the feeling the oncologist thinks it's just tough and ive got to live with it

Your GP is not the person to help you.

They MAY offer you ADs or BP tablets BUT you will get the best treatment from the C&W who specialise in treating women like you, from across the UK.
