Is it normal to ache all over on HRT?

I started HRT about a month ago and all was great too start with. I'm on evorel 50 oestrogen patches and progesterone pills separately until I can get my out of date mirena coil replaced. I'm also on an oestrogen pessary for dryness. Gradually over the past week some joints have been feeling a bit sore but today I feel really really achy all over and I'm wondering if its the HRT. Tried Google but it says it should prevent joint pain! I have sore hips, back, knees, feet, shoulders and neck. Painkillers made no difference. I'm nearly 53 if that's relevant. Has anyone had any similar experiences? Would love to know if it's worth persisting with. Thanks 😊

Definitely not for me I must say.

There’s so many viruses etc going around at the moment that it’s more likely to be one of them. I’d stick with the HRT for at least a couple of months to see how you feel once it settles. I started on the 50 patches a few months ago and have just moved onto 100 as the benefits seemed to wane over the last few months. Hope you feel better soon Flowers

I didn't have anything remotely like that when starting HRT, nor have I since. I agree with the PP that it's probably something else.

Another saying the opposite-it really seems to have helped with aching joints. Could it be another virus?

Thanks for the replies. Reassuring that it's probably not the HRT as it's otherwise great but now I don't know what's wrong lol. Early night for me I think 😴

Could your vit D levels be low as that causes aches & pains.

Most people will be deficient if not taking supplements in the winter

Similar age to you and also tried Everol 50. Unfortunately it triggered a flare of what I think was a long term inflammatory arthritis for me and has brought things to a head. I took it in part to help sore joints which that I had hoped were linked to menopause but know now that they weren’t.

Stopped after 2 months and things improved but am not back to normal and under Rheumatology having tests. I think that would he very rare though and I’ve been unlucky.

That sounds awful Volterra. Sounds like you've had a rough time. 😞

That's interesting. May look into this. I'm.no better today. Wondering if it may be viral also. I've taken a lateral flow test which was negative

Magnesium citrate supplements are very good for aches. I take them alongside my HRT. I had an elbow pain for ages that disappeared within weeks of starting HRT so I'd say you are more likely to have picked up a virus
