Bleeding in between periods

Hello,
This is my first time posting and looking for some advice please, I’m 42 & for the past few months I have been experiencing bleeding in between periods, one episode lasted 3 weeks. I have been given Tranexamic Acid a couple of times which has helped. At the appointment for the Hysteroscopy the Dr straight away before even looking said I should have a Mirena coil fitted. Thankfully my uterus & cervix looked fine and they have taken a biopsy of the lining of womb I’m currently awaiting the results. I’m very grateful the family I have so do not want any more children, I haven’t been on any form of contraception for 7 years cant have the combined pill (tried lots) as I really suffer with migraines and the mini pill made me feel so low, extremely snappy, effected my libido and caused me to break out with spots.

So as you can imagine I really don’t want to have to any form of contraception as it really doesn’t suit me, but it seems that this is the route the medical team keep pushing me towards.
Has anyone else had similar please?

Replying as no one else has which surprises me as I thought bleeding in between was pretty common with peri. I'm a bit older than you and have experienced this on and off for years, although I do have a history of fibroids. It's got a lot worse recently, presumably a combination of the fibroids and hormones going haywire. I have an appointment with gynaecologist in a couple of weeks to discuss. I had the mirena a few years ago which didn't suit me at all (constant spotting & acne!) so I had it removed. I was OK on the combined pill but don't really want to go back on it due to my age & the fact it will mask/delay(?) menopause. So hormonal contraception not really an option for me either. Hopefully, someone else will be along shortly with some advice. Will let you know what my gynaecologist has to say!

I’ve had a Mirena put in for heavy periods.
For many women it stops periods completely, which is what I suppose they are hoping for you, for me it’s made them very much lighter.
They are often used as the progesterone part of HRT, so would be useful if you’re thinking of going that way.
