Hysteroscopy in peri

Hi all. Has anyone had a hysteroscopy in perimenopause for irregular bleeding? My periods are still coming more or less on time but I have had some spotting between ot they are longer but lighter. I ended up being sent for a scan which showed slightly thickened lining but as I started my period 2 days later I assumed that would be why. I duid infirm my GP when she told me I'd been referred. I have 2 small fibroids which haven't grown since they were scanned about 5 years ago. I've had polycystic ovaries for decades but as I'm sterilised the times when my periods went AWOL for months never concerned my GP or me. I was precsribed sequi HRT and had asked my gp when to take them as my periods were a bit random and that's when I was sent for a scan. I'm assuming I will have a consultation first to ask questions? TiA

It seems a bit 'overkill' to be honest.

I have had that procedure as I had several episodes of light spotting but my periods had stopped for at least 2 years and I was also on HRT.

If you are not post menopause - which you aren't- then spotting between periods is pretty much normal for peri and the thick lining was clearly as your period was due!

The best time to have a scan is immediately after a period and if this isn't possible then they should allow for the lining to be thicker- I think it can be as thick as 16mm in women having periods (and 5mm or less compared to post meno women.)

You don't have to go ahead with the hyster if you don't want to.
It's your choice.

Thanks jingling! I ended up not having it. The gynae dr was a little confused as to why I was there too! I'm have a re scan in 6 weeks but he seemed to agree it was peri.
