How long did it take until you felt better on HRT?

I’ve been given Estradot 25 plus Utrogestan for days 14-28. It’s been 2 weeks now and I feel exactly the same as before I started. Insomnia, anxiety, generally flat, no libido, restless legs, hot flushes.
I’d got such high hopes but now I’m afraid the HRT is not going change anything and this is my life now.

On patches here, no real difference a year on. Only thing they have helped with is the rage. Everything else still the same.

sharpiepaper · 31/10/2021 11:49

Oh no! That’s exactly what I was worried about. Which patches are you on and what dose?

I take Oestrogel, it was a gradual improvement but I’d say I definitely felt a lot better after 2 or 3 months.

DampSquidGames · 31/10/2021 11:51

Which is what my doctor predicted.

AuntieMarys · 31/10/2021 11:51

3 days on Elleste duet

TheCategoryIs · 31/10/2021 12:00

I’d say about three months but rage and hot flushes were not my problems to begin with

Tootsey11 · 31/10/2021 12:15

Op, I'm on conti patches, post menopause. I may as well stick sellotape to my arse for all the good they do.

Level75 · 31/10/2021 12:23

About a month on low dose (25) patches. Stick with it.

EntropyBanana · 31/10/2021 12:46

It was pretty quick for me on oestrogen only patches. It's hard to quantify exactly the time frame because of other factors - but I started on them on a Monday and got the news out of the blue on the Thursday night that same week that my father had died and already had recovered a ton of resilience by that point.

I hope you find the right combination/dose to feel better and get yourself back.

Three days x

Three days for me also. Could people who have had no benefit try increasing their dose? I'm really sad for you. Turned my life around.

Woodburnerandblanket · 07/11/2021 10:41

Four weeks for me and the only real difference is less frequent hot flushes. Happy about that but the mood swings are still hard going.

suesoso · 07/11/2021 18:46

I've been on HRT for 15 months. Started on low dose (50), but saw no improvements, so gradually increased & after 6 months switched from gel to patches which suit me better. I would say it took 9 months of very gradual improvements & increases in dose to make a real difference. I'm now up to 200mg patch along with Utrogestan. Adding testosterone 4 months ago has also helped tremendously, but oestrogen should be maximised before adding testosterone. I'd say I'm 75% better on HRT so far. It can take quite a bit of time to find the right dose & type. Each dose increase needs a few months to settle before trying another increase. If you are peri-menopausal, then it's trickier as with your own hormonal fluctuations, it can be a moving target. Hot flushes should be one of the first symptoms to disappear, so if they are still there after a couple of months, most likely you need an increase in dose. 25mg is very low. Sorry, it's not necessarily a quick fix for many of us, but don't give up as over time with tweaks etc you should feel a big difference. x

About Three weeks. It’s amazing. I put off getting HRT as I didn’t think my symptoms were that bad but, blimey, the patches are working like magic. I didn’t realise how wearing and unpleasant the hot flushes were until they stopped.
No effect on my arthritis though ☹️

Sarahlou252 · 08/11/2021 17:01

Three weeks.
I am 18 months post menopause & been on Evorel Conti for 4 months. Not had a single hot flush since week 3, sleeping through the night, cold sweats have gone, clear head, memory is better, I feel like me again.
The only down side for me is I have spots on my face but I'm still in the settling down phase.
They are absolute life savers.
