Mirena plus estrogen patches

My GP has prescribed estrogen patches and I'm going to get a mirena fitted.

I'm feeling quite nervous about it all. It's mainly horror stories about the mirena making me worry it'll make me feel worse and I'll have to wait ages to get it removed. But I'm also feeling anxious (one of my many peri symptoms is out of control anxiety) about risks of HRT etc.

I'd love to hear from anyone else using mirena plus estrogen. Has it worked for you? Did it take long to feel the effects?
TIA

I can't help with that question op as I've had mirenas for years now and only started oestrogen gel a few months ago. Best thing to do is ask your gp.

It doesn't really matter when you start the patches but the sooner you start using them the sooner your symptoms will be addressed, in your shoes I would start using them now.

Thanks @TinaWeymouthsBass and @cushioncovers

Update: I did it. I stuck the patch on yesterday and I already feel better. It's hard to pinpoint exactly what's better - a lot of my symptoms are mood/sleep rather than physical/flushes etc - I just feel like I'm having a good day. I've got a spring in my step for the first time in ages. Long may it last!

That's often how it feels for me as well. I can't pin point what's suddenly got better but I just know I feel better than I did.

Excellent, hope to continues. I had my first Mirena 21 yrs ago after finishing breastfeeding my DD - a health visitor advised it as a means of stopping periods as I got migraines with them.

My last one should have come out about 20mths ago, I delayed seeing GP due to Covid and when I did, asked about HRT, as, although I was approaching 58, I had anxiety, lack of sleep, low libido.

I had a referral to Gynae consultant due to an earlier history of mini strokes and at last got my Mirena changed by consultant on Friday and my HRT gel should now be at pharmacy.

I have had no problems whatsoever with my Mirenas over the years (this is probably my 5th?)

I am hoping that the HRT works on me as quick as it seems to be working on you Op and @cushioncovers.

I hope the estrogen/mirena combination works for you @BertiesShoes.
I'm still feeling good. I'm sleeping better (after months of never sleeping through the night). I feel calmer and better able to cope with the stuff life chucks my way. I have more energy. I feel less anxious and depressed. I'm still bleeding a bit but it's tailing off now and the cramping has gone.
