Hi,

I will talk to my doctor about this of course but very interested in any thoughts here: should I up my esteogel to ‘offset’ the addition of utrogestan? Will it help?

I felt pretty zingy using just the estrogel but the utrogestan has floored me a bit. I’m on one pump daily of estrogel.

Re taking the utrogestan vaginally ItsNotDeep , do you just insert the same tablets? How long does it take to dissolve? Do you have to avoid sex just after taking it this way? So many questions!
@QuestionNumberOne

1 yes same capsule
2 All night
3 Yes the two aren't compatible as the tablet may dislodge and come out therefore not doing its job.

You don't have to use it vaginally at night (if this helps) because the only reason for oral use at night is it's often sedating.

Using it vaginally by-passes the brain so sedation isn't an issue
You can use it anytime but if it comes out and isn't dissolved, then it's not doing its job.

Ah thanks - so best to take at night really when you’re laying down for a stretch of time…I may try that! Thanks Jingling Smile

Hey, to update - the utrogestan is really making me feel awful. Zombified and tearful and like a I can’t cope Sad I’m just exhausted.

Maybe I should switch to patches? I’ve been in the utrogestan for two and a half weeks, is there any chance I will adjust to it soon?

@QuestionNumberOne patches might be a good shout. Or you could stay on the gel and switch Utrogestan to Provera (medroxyprogesterone.

QuestionNumberOne · 28/10/2021 18:05

Thanks - going to try the patches. Hopefully they’ll be a better fit!

Just reading your thread and wondered how it was going.

I'm entering the world of utrogestan and bit confused.

Do you think its ok to just increase the oestrogen dose without talking to doctor? I feel horrible on the progesterone. But only on one spray of lenzetto. Wondering about adding another...?

MammaLovesLeopard · 28/11/2021 08:59

@QuestionNumberOne did you try the progesterone patches?

QuestionNumberOne · 28/11/2021 09:42

Hi Smile

thesunwillout I did switch to Evorel Conti patches and have been on them for three weeks or so now. They are suiting me much better although I still have spikes of anxiety/low mood which come and go

  • I guess as my body adapts. My energy is much much better, which is a great relief! So I will see how I go on these.

The utrogestan tablets - taken orally - had a horrible effect on me and I was so relieved to stop taking them. The first night I stopped taking them, I woke up the next morning feeling awake and bright - the utrogestan made me feel drugged all day, exhausted and totally foggy and shit.

mammalovesleopards The patches I’m on are combined oestrogen and progesterone. With regards to whether you should up the oestrogen spray, I was told by the Newson clinic that it was ok to up my estrogel pumps gradually so I assume it’s ok for you to increase? (I tried the esteogel along with the utrogestan tablets before I switched to patches).

What a journey it is, I’m not entirely settler on the patches but there is enough of an improvement to persevere. Let me know how you get on guys!

Thanks for the update!

I felt like I was going to have a nervous breakdown taking the utrogestan orally. Hyperventilating with anxiety, bloated, crying, angry. I had to stop by day 3 then, like you I felt complete relief the next morning having stopped.

So on to second month now and have nearly done with my 2 weeks of taking Utrogestan vaginally but at 1/2 the dose, as suggested by the newson clinic video and agreed by my gp.

I know things are supposed to take 3 months to settle down but I'm feeling pretty achy again (which had gone away when only taking the oestrogen) and my boobs/ armpits are really tender. Plus it's a bit annoying having to keep shoving them up there!

Very happy to check in with you @QuestionNumberOne to compare progress!

Is the progesterone in the patches not body identical? If so, does this mean the associated risks are higher?
