Androfeme Testosterone

I've just started Androfeme and was wondering how others clean out the syringe after each use? There is still some cream left inside after I squirt out my dose. Even though it's a relatively small amount, I'm wondering if it's bad to let it go down the drain (hormones in water supply?) and apart from that I find it hard to rinse all of it out anyway.

Also, is it ok to rub in my Oestrogel on my arms and then rub in the Androfeme on my leg without washing my hands inbetween?

Apologies for the newbie questions!

Sorry not an answer but were you prescribed this privately?

TimeFlying · 11/10/2021 22:40

My doctor advised using the syringe the first time to see how much 0.5 ml was. Then to just use it straight out of the tube and not worry about the syringe. I put mine behind my knee. Oestrogel on my inner arm. Hth

@TimeFlying - that's really helpful and I was wondering whether to do the same thing.

@monkeyblonde - yes I was prescribed it privately through Newson Health (it's about £80 for a tube which I think is a 3 month supply for me) as my testosterone levels came back as really low. If you are prescribed Testosterone through the NHS I believe you get the one that is designed for men and you have to squeeze an estimated amount out of a sachet and make it last for a certain number of days. Androfeme is a West Australian product that is licensed in Australia for use by women:

Doc also told me to apply in the morning and not any later in the day. Think it's to do with poss effects on sleep. Good luck

deeplyambivalent · 12/10/2021 07:23

I don't bother with the applicator anymore - I just judge it by eye.

TheCategoryIs · 12/10/2021 22:42

I don’t bother with the syringe either but am desperately low so no danger of overdosing. Dose was recently increased.
I apply it at night.

I do wash my hands between oestrogen and testosterone.

Maremaremare · 19/10/2021 22:20

Just to update, I checked with the doctor and she said it's not necessary to wash hands between applying the Oestrogel and the Androfeme testosterone cream. And she said it was ok to estimate the Androfeme dose rather than using the syringe.

I have a (related!) question!

I've been prescribed testosterone by a GP at the Newson Clinic for peri brain fog/lethargy/withering libido. I read the instruction leaflet before I started and it's very very clear that it's not to be used if you're still having periods. Also that you need to have bloods done within about 6 weeks of starting, and my follow up isn't until January. Am waiting a response from the clinic but wondered if anyone else had come across this?

Maremaremare · 21/10/2021 00:43

Ashamed to say I didn't read the full leaflet, but I don't think it's uncommon for drugs to be prescribed in ways that aren't in line with the leaflet. I was prescribed Viagra whilst doing a round of IVF (to thicken the lining of the uterus) and the very first line in the leaflet said "do not take this drug if you are a woman"!

Anyway, I also still have a monthly period and I think that is the case with a lot of people on testosterone. Did you get a reply on email from the clinic yet?

My follow up will be 9 weeks after starting Androfeme
