What age did you enter perimenopause?

Just that really. Im 44 and feel fine at the moment. I didn't really know anything about the condition before and assumed at around 50 periods start to go a bit haywire, you might experience a few hot flushes then your periods hopefully stop (ha!). But now I know peri can go on for years, so can I please ask when did you enter it?

@lazylinguist

Spoke to GP last week, listed symptoms and he said, "No, you still have periods so not menopause." So I said no, not menopause but perimenopause - he said this is just a concept, not a real thing. He suggested I'm 'just down' due to pandemic, suggested I get hobby such as 'baking or sewing.'

OMG what an ignorant, condescending twerp! How did you not punch him in the nose?!

I'm 42 and whenever I mention the (new) things my body's up to, she dismisses it as 'there was no such thing as peri menopause in my day'.

My mum is absolutely full to the brim of opinions. 🤨

Not really sure as I have a mirena coil and no periods.
At 51 I started with dreadful anxiety and dizziness. Flushes started at 52 or 53.
Struggled on for 18 months then went on Hrt.
Now I'm 55 and still on Hrt and feel much better.
Hopefully I can be more stable with symptoms and mood now.😁

Nothing yet at 50, following!

I think I was 40, but I've had a partial hysterectomy.
Years of symptoms and no help from doctors.

I'm 47 now and think I'm long over the worst. Still considering HRT if I can remember to make an appointment.
