Just started HRT & feel miserable

I've been taking estrogel 2 pumps for a week now and had the mirena coil put in at the same time. Plus I came off Sertraline 2 weeks ago.
I am feeling absolutely miserable! I don't cry often, but have felt like crying constantly. My sleep is really weird. Either I keep waking or I wake mega early. Plus horrid nightmares.
On the plus side I feel like I had a lot of water retention/swelling and now my wedding ring fits again and my appetite has reduced massively.
In other people's experience will the low mood improve? My anxiety levels have started going back up too.

Sounds like that's more to do with coming off Sertraline than the HRT. Did you taper off very gradually?

I'm on the same HRT as you and haven't cried once. I think it's Sertraline-related.

Hang on in there OP

@Cruella18 I could have written your post. I had the Mirena fitted apx 2 months ago and have oestrogen patches. There was a delay in my getting the patches as I couldn’t get to speak to a GP. At the time of my first period post Mirena, I was an emotional wreck. I’m not usually someone who cries but during that week, I cried maybe three times a day, every day and just felt devastated. I felt fine again when my period finished. The next period I feel down and demotivated but am not crying. For me the change has been so profound that I know it is due to Mirena. However it does seem that the patches are beginning to have a positive effect- although I’ve been waking up far too early since using them too… I did have a similar reaction to the mini pill 10 years ago so believe I may just be sensitive to synthetic progesterone.
