Too nervous to use the Patches

I finally have Evorel Sequi patches but after reading up on them on various forums. I can't bring myself to try them. Hair loss, bloating, diarrhoea, etc side effects. I'm nervous about the Conti part as well as I haven't tolerated progesterone mini pills or 'the implant' due to mood swings of anger or depression. Bloating and constipation and water retention with implant. Moods with the POP.

Should I just go for it with the patches? Thanks xx

Nobody can tell you, it’s up to you! I had an awful time on the mini-pill and swore off hormonal contraception for life, but I use Evorel Sequi with no issues. But of course there are others for whom they won’t be right.

I do feel a bit more extra-good on the estrogen-only weeks but it is so subtle, I can’t even really articulate why, and it might even be my imagination/confirmation bias.

Good luck

I use the patches and other than some weight gain, have experienced no side effects other than feeling better.

Worth a try for a while if you’re suffering with meno symptoms surely?

I’ve been on those ones for 3 months now. No side effects, just an improvement in all of my meno symptoms. Starting to get hot flushes creeping back in so may need an adjustment but I’d certainly recommend them. It’s a pain having periods again, as mine were all but absent, but at least they’re regular and predictable.

Lists of side effects are always scary but most people won’t get them

Thanks. It is absolutely true about side effects. You start reading about them, you become convinced you'll suffer them.

I am medicated for genetically inherited high blood pressure. Main side effect is a dry cough. Never had it. Been on them 2 yrs now.

Just get on with it You’ll never know if you don’t give it a try.

😀

Thank you all 🙂 I'll be slapping one on my behind tonight!! If they don't suit, then I'm back to the gp..

I've been on the Evorel Sequi patches for over six months and have had no side effects, I feel absolutely fine and don't know what I would do without them. I didn't even think of googling the side effects and those listed in the packet are way out of date. Look at The Menopause Doctor website if you're concerned but I don't think there's any harm in at least trying them.

mrsalfstewart · 30/09/2021 22:33

Oh and I put mine on my hip - easier to remove and clean where the patch has been - also don't forget to alternate. Good luck with them.

doodleygirl · 30/09/2021 22:34

But you won’t know unless you try them.

I am hyper sensitive to hormonal stuff. My perimenopausal symptoms where shite. Went on patches (combined) in Jan..was awful for about 3 months (mood, fatigue, diarrhoea) But now MUCH better than I have been in years. Very glad I stuck it out. Don't give up immediately.

Have you ever read the side effects of any drug- aspirin, paracetamol, anti histamines, antibiotics?

If you have, you might want to avoid all of them Grin
