Qlaira supply issues. Don't want to come off it.

I've been taking Qlaira for nearly a year mainly to help with peri/PMS symptoms and painful, heavy periods, but also as a contraceptive.

It's been great. I still get some symptoms but nothing like I had before. But there have been supply issues for some reason. I've just seen that the British Menopause Society is warning there won't be any stock until Spring 2022 Shock
I need to speak to the GP about alternative options but I don't know where to begin. Qlaira suits me well and I'm scared to come off it.
I'm 45 and still having regular periods.
Is anyone else in the same boat?

I'm in exactly the same situation - I'm 43 and have been taking Qlaira for 6 months for peri symptoms. Got on really well with it, but forced to stop because I can't find anywhere that can supply it. My doctor called the pharmacist on my behalf to see what the situation is and was told it may have ceased production 😱. I've now been prescribed Yasmin (combined pill) - not as good, but better than nothing! There don't appear to be any alternatives to Qlaira available in the UK.

Glad I'm not alone but sorry you're in the same boat @McDoodle. I think Zoely is the closest pill to Qlaira. Might be worth a try if you decide you don't like Yasmin. I've got GP tomorrow and trying to decide if I should ask for Zoely or if I should get Mirena coil.

I am 42 and tried Qlaira for heavy periods and really got on with it so was somewhat gutted to hear supplies were disrupted until sometime in 2022. I have switched to Zoely in the meantime but it plainly does not suit me as well and the second period I have on Zoely (withdrawal bleed which started after 4 placebo tablets) was a monster and worse than my usual periods!! I will let you know if the Zoely settles down - my skin seems happy on it at least and I don't feel bloated or moody thus far. I am not peri yet, but need something to make periods manageable as since my 2nd child (and retained placenta drama) they have been a mare!

@ViewFromTheMolehill sorry that Zoely wasn't a good alternative. I've switched from Qlaira to Mirena coil plus estrogen patch and so far so good. Insertion wasn't fun but it didn't take long.
